Hello, You asked for comments on the new layout: you got it! I admit it is useful for the new folks to have the new layout. But for the zealots, it is useful to have the old layout, with all the news *and* the summary for each news. Newbie question

Friends of Zope, I have decided to use Zserve instead of Apache, I am new to Linux and do not know how to remove Apache. I have tried rpm -e apache(version).rpm . What is the proper way to install Zserve? If I rebuild Redhat with netscape installed, I seem to get http services running.

I'm hoping that it will get taken care of by the beginning of next week at the latest (I figure people are off trying to have fun for the holidays <g>). If there aren't any status updates by next week, I will probably look into restarting the list on one of my servers (if no one else steps up to the plate first or the original list does not resurface).

Catalog problems

OK, here's the situation. I want to build a search engine that applies to a particular folder and all its sub-folders. I want this search engine to be a FULL TEXT one, meaning it will need to search through the body text of documents. I have been unable to figure out how to set this up with catalogs. Do any of you have some pointers to help me out? Specifically, I can't figure out how to limit it to one particular folder, and how to tell it to do a full text index. -- John

Hi Folks, Yesterday I reported having a problem with the Zope ZML example from XML.COM. The problem was in the Find Objects to Catalog tab of the ZCatalog. Well, in looking through the ZCatalog.py code, it looks to me that the function Eval and the expr_globals dictionary are not being imported correctly from DocumentTemplate.DT_Util. I changed the line in ZCatalog.py from: from DocumentTemplate.DT_Util import InstanceDict, TemplateDict, cDocument to: from DocumentTemplate.DT_Util import InstanceDict, TemplateDict, cDocument, Eval, expr_globals and then everything worked. I believe it's: username password instance where instance (and the port number) is defined in the sybase interfaces file somewhere in the sybase installation. --Rob

Sybase Connection Problems

Hi folks, I got the SybaseDaV2 compiled and insatlled into zope. Now i`m trying to connect to a sybase 11.9.2 DB on a different machine and i`m not really sure about the correct syntax of the database connection string. Do i have to add the port number (4100) in the server field ?? And what should be entered in the Datasource field ?? Just the database name ? Could anybody give me an example of a valid filled Database Connection form ?? Alexander Schad
