Virtual host

I'm sure: this is not a FAQ. Let's say I have two domains to serve on my server: www.pippo.it and www.pluto.it. www.pippo.it is a virtual host served by Apache on /var/www/pippo.it while www.pluto.it is a virtual host I want to serve by Zope ZServer. Using ProxyPass directive I managed to serve www.pluto.it/Zope on port 8080 but I wasn't able to serve directlty www.pluto.it. Any hints? Thanks. Marco Beri.

However, I believe this error comes when trying to marshal a form field, in your case probably defined as: <INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="Date:date"> These fields need string representations in them, so that the marshalling code can convert them to dates when the form is POSTed. Fat Python process...

Hi We have finally installed Zope on a computer. The first thing my sysadmin shows me is that Zope is time CPU greedy !!! We tested the following configuration : PII 350, Apache + latest Zope. We have only one site installed. We make "intense" access to the site, 2 persons surfing fast through the site and the python process grows up to 12 or 15% time CPU... that is huge ! Accessing properties of broken instances

How can I access the properties of a broken Z-Class instance through DTML? I've rewritten a Z-Class inside one of my Products in Python and I'm trying to migrate all of the instances. Problems with XML import / export

I've got a large number of search-and-replace style edits to do to many dtml-methods across several folders. (I'm changing from a custom tag I had developed to a standard tag now that it supports the semantics I need). This seemed like a great place to do an XML export, edit the file, and do an import. Unfortunately, for all but the most trivial objects, I invariably end up with an XML file that won't import, always due to the same error: <object> tags without id attributes. For example, I exported a folder that contains 10 dtml-documents, 1 dtml-method, and 6 sql-methods. Here's an excerpt from the broken .xml file that zope output: <item> <key> <string id="2132.12" encoding="repr">_arg</string> </key> <value> <object> <klass> <global id="2132.13" name="Args" module="Shared.DC.ZRDB.Aquedu ct"/> </klass> <tuple/> <state> <dictionary id="2132.14"> Now, before I did this export, I copy-and- pasted the contents into a freshly created folder, and did a database pack. If I copy one or two objects into another folder, it will work. If I delete a lot of objects (down to one or two), a folder will work. If I add back the same objects by copying them one at a time from another folder, it seems to work. Anybody got any clues? This is making me crazy. -Brad

unknown properties of ZClass-Instances

Since a few weeks I'm having fun with ZClasses and I like them very much. At the moment I am designing a ZClass with a Basic propertysheet (all instances share the same properties of the Basic Property Sheet), but I want it to have another property-sheet called "individual" where my users can insert properties of their own. Unluckily I don't know which names the users will choose or even which kind of properties (strings, dates ...) they will insert. I heard something about multiple selection list, but I did not understand everything about it. Am I shooting in the right direction? Andyman

Form with variable number of inputs

I saw in zope.org's Documentation/How-to's an essay on how to create a form with a variable number of inputs but it seemed a bit too complicated for my simple mind. I also read about the ':record' type but its behavior doesn't seem useful in this case where some selections in some rows might be left empty. What I have is a table that may have variable number of rows with listboxes of the same choices and text input boxes in each row. The user might change some or none of the choices. What I wound up doing is in each row having something like <td><select name="lister:list" size="1"> <option value="Unassigned_Investigator"> <dtml-in get_all_inv_names> <option value="<dtml-var lastname"><dtml-var lastname></option> </dtml-in> </select> </td> which just means I coerced the 'lister' selection to be a list(in case there were just one selection - the normal behavior for Zope when several form variables have the same name 'joe' appears to be to turn them into a list named 'joe'. I also have a hidden field of 'ids' which is also a list and which is in each row too. So far when I get these list of 'ids' and 'lister' back, using Linux Netscape 4 and Windows IE 4, they match up - in other words, the first 'ids' corresponds to the first 'lister', etc. So I can figure out which selection goes with which record/row. So it seems that inputs with the same name are sent back to Zope 'in order' at least with the browsers I use. Is this a browser-dependent thing or does Zope have some magic I don't know about that's doing this? Is my ignorance showing? (don't answer that!) I have a bunch more forms I'm considering doing this way but I'm worried I'm just getting lucky and this might not work in all situations/browsers. Anyone know?
