DCORACLE for Linux-SGI system

Hi, Is it possible to use Zope with DCORACLE api + DCORACLE Adapter on a linux box to query an oracle db ( 8.0.5 ) on a SGI machine? $ORACLE_HOME from sgi is mounted via nfs on the Linux. FR

Further, I almost wonder if you had a backup of the site when it didn't have this problem, if you fired a copy of that up on another port and the problem went away. As it stands now, it could be a bug in Zope, or something changed on your system. The most important part of debugging is reproduction. Reproducing the problem in a controled way can be the hardest part but it is the most important. As a stopgap so that you can get some sleep, you can set up a cron script to reset the server every now and then either nicely (call the servers manage_shutdown) or mean (send it a signal). -Michel

However, there is a patch needed (installed as a Netscape plugin) that coerces Netscape (um, I mean iPlanet) into forwarding the REQUEST's authentication credentials into the external application (i.e., into Zope). Reload/reload/reload

Hello! I have a strange problem. I went to a page (to http://sun.med.ru/Zope/, for example, but any Zope page showed the same symptom) and press Reload a few times. Browser showed the page - reload - the page - reload - hangs for a few seconds... Error: "The page does not contains data". Apache access_log: the_page 200 the_page 200 the_page 200 the_page 304 Status 304 means "the page didn't change, show from a cache", but browser bugs on this. I am using Netscape 4.7 for glibc2. I tried it with lynx, but lynx didn't showd this, and all access in access_log marked with status 200. Anyway, even with lynx I had some strange problem - when I press Reload very often lynx showed the page - reload - the page - reload - hangs for 2-3 seconds - reload - the page - reload - the page - reload - hangs for 2-3 seconds... Obviously, any stability problems get the highest priority from us here at DC - if you don't look good, *we* don't look good :^) We are _extremely_ interested in these "hanging" reports and would like to nail them down as quickly as possible so that we can address any issues internal to Zope and get a 2.1.1 release out there if necessary. For folks that are seeing these symptoms, you can help us speed the diagnosis by: o providing details on your environment (OS, version, zope version in use). Have there been any recent changes in the environment? o symptom description - does CPU go to 100%? If so, does there seem to be any pattern to the requests preceding the hang that you can determine (perhaps by looking at the server log)? Can you regularly reproduce it using a contrived test (like using ab or another benchmarking tool on a particular url or sequence of urls)? Does the problem happen only when accessing the system via pcgi or ZServer (or both)? o run in debug mode (using -D) and send any funny looking or unusual messages that you see o provide any unexplained tracebacks that you see from your site o Look at the "debug" screen at Control_Panel/manage_debug. This can be used to spot memory leaks and stuck database connections. If you think you may see something suspicious, save the document src and send it to us. o You can turn on more detailed logging by adding the following to your z2.py script: # turn on debug logging from ZServer import DebugLogger logfile=os.path.join(INSTANCE_HOME,'var/debug.log') DebugLogger.log=DebugLogger.DebugLogger(logfile).log It should be insertted after Zope is imported, e.g. after this line: exec "import "+MODULE in {} In particular, we want to look for requests that don't complete or for apparent leaking requests. You have to do some small changes in DTMLDocument.py and in the code provided by Oleg Broytman. You can find it in load_site-py. I have a working adaption for ftp/http-put that does nearly the same job as does load_site for files. I am just working on it because I need a way to tell Zope *not to change* the code in certain cases and because one thing that does not work is adding the meta-information as an additional property. If you're interested, I'll send you that code and a bit of documentation though both is *extremely* ugly (still learning python ...) BTW, I tried ob.manage_addProperty and the like from DTMLDocument.py to add metainformation but the only thing I achieved was adding a property to the parent folder or different sorts of errors (sorry, I'm writing out of memory, so no tracebacks:-). Zope and Oracle - again

I know, we had this thread already... We have a Oracle 8 database running on Win NT. We have also Zope with Apache on a Linux Redhat 6.1 box. We cannot move the database over to Linux or the Server over to NT. My question is about the Oracle Runtime client, which I have to install (as I heard usual with Oracle products). I did not find it on the Oracle Homepage. Does it mean that I have to install Oracle on the Linux-Bow as well in order to have the librarys availlable, or is this client a separate software which i can install independently from the database engine? Where can I find more information on the client-software? Andy Pahne
