Hi all, I sucessfully use zope as pcgi on IIS4.0. I tested my site, and I saw in the WinNT TaskManager that I have one or two pcgi-wrapper.exe process running responding to the hits. But If my site receives a LOT of hits, I see on the WinNT TaskManager around 20 pcgi-wrapper and they dont disappear!! Resulting on no longer I be able to access my site. Anyone had this problem? Am I missing something. Thanks, Júlio ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Replacing Documents or Methods contents
by Oscar Picasso 09 Nov '99

09 Nov '99

To replace contents of a Document or Method I tried this: <dtml-with target> <dtml-call "manage_edit('A new text', 'My new title')"> </dtml-with> where target is either a DTML Document or Method. It doesn't work in any case. No error message, but nothing seems to happen. Where am I wrong? Adrian, I just tried this out on a 2.1.0b1 installation, and I cant make the problem happen... what Zope version are you using? Also, can you make this happen _anywhere_ on your site or just in certain places? If it only happens in certain places, what sort of objects are there? TinyTable incompatible with ObjectManager ZClass (2.1.0b1)
by Itamar Shtull-Trauring 09 Nov '99

09 Nov '99

I have found it impossible to add TinyTables to instances of ZClasses that inherit from ObjectManager. Might be because the "Add TinyTable" permission can't be added to ObjectManager ZClasses - because TinyTable uses the old Product distribution? I'd like to know if anyone else has these problem, or just me. -- Itamar - itamars(a)ibm.net

Strange cookie 'feature'
by Duncan Booth 09 Nov '99

09 Nov '99

I have no idea whether this is what is supposed to happen, but I just found a strange interaction between Zope and Netscape Enterprise Server. I have a Zope server which is accessible either directly, or via a Netscape Server and PCGI. What I was doing was to set a cookie and then do a RESPONSE.redirect(...) call. If accessing Zope directly this works as I expected, i.e. the redirected page found it had the cookie available and customised its output accordingly. But, when accessed through PCGI, the cookie was never set. I think what was happening was that the Netscape server was interpreting the redirect itself so the client never saw the cookie it only saw the redirected page. I fixed it by removing the redirect, using dtml-return instead. -- Duncan Booth duncan(a)dales.rmplc.co.uk int month(char *p){return(124864/((p[0]+p[1]-p[2]&0x1f)+1)%12)["\5\x8\3" "\6\7\xb\1\x9\xa\2\0\4"];} // Who said my code was obscure? http://dales.rmplc.co.uk/Duncan

ZCatalog same as Index Server?
by Rodrigo Ernesto De Leon Plicet 09 Nov '99

09 Nov '99

Hello there. I have a question. Is ZCatalog a heavy duty indexing/searching component, a la M$ Index Server/ASP/IIS combo? Right now I have a test machine running Zope 2.1.0b1 (Win95, p233, 128MB, 8GB) and it is horrendously slow when indexing a few DTML Documents, about 45 seconds for 100 docs. Maybe this isn't ZCatalog's turf? Any info, TIA, - Rodrigo _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Nesting <dtml-in>
by David S. Harrison 09 Nov '99

09 Nov '99

Is it possible to nest <dtml-in> constructs such that the inner structure still has access to the data in the outer structure? My reading of the DTML guide seems to indicate that the answer is no. It appears that the name of the item for iteration is "sequence-item" at all levels. Is there a better way to handle two dimensional data using <dtml-in>? The guide seems to imply that it is possible for the <dtml-in> construct to set up a name for each value in a column. But nothing is said about how this can be arranged. I am calling an external method to get the data. I thought I might be able to return a table from this method and then access the value using <dtml-var> by suppling key names. That doesn't work. I suppose I could try using an expr clause in <dtml-var>. But I get the feeling that there is a more obvious way that I haven't discovered in the documentation. David S. KMMNetNews + Zope 2.01 Crash
by Samu Mielonen 09 Nov '99

09 Nov '99

I've tried to upload a huge document into a Zclass instance (a KMArticle created by the KMNetNews product) using the Zope management interface and the Add button. According to the class, it should be enable to contain a FILE object, but uploading a several megabyte file inside a KMArticle instance caused: - Long wait while something was being sent from browse to the server (perhaps 20 seconds or more), but no enough for the whole uploaded image to be transmitted in that time. - Loss of all response from the Zope server (and the accompanied Medusa framework). Looking at processes inside Linux confirmed my suspisions that the whole server had gone down (i.e. the process was not running anymore). So, my question is: 1. Did I do something wrong in trying to add a multimegabyte file inside a Zclass instance that was designed to contain a FILE object? 2. If so, what should have I done instead (if I want to link from my articles to huge downloadable files) 3. Is this a bug in KMNetNews or Zope 2.01 or both? Additional information available on request. Here is my cut at the project. Instead of explicitly searching for meta_type 'Folder' and 'DTML Document', I used the 'isPrincipiaFolderish' method to distinguish. This allows things like ZCatalogs and such to count as folders, since they -can- contain things like folders. <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('fobjs', [])"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('dobjs', [])"> <dtml-in "PARENTS[0].objectValues()"> <dtml-let item="_.getitem('sequence-item', 0)"> <dtml-if "item.isPrincipiaFolderish"> <dtml-call "fobjs.insert(0, item)"> <dtml-else> <dtml-call "dobjs.insert(0, item)"> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> <dtml-else> No Objects Found </dtml-in> Found <dtml-var "_.len(fobjs)"> folders and <dtml-var "_.len(dobjs)"> documents. <BR> <dtml-in fobjs> Folder <dtml-var "_.getitem('sequence-item', 0).id"> <BR> </dtml-in> <dtml-in dobjs> <dtml-with "_.getitem('sequence-item', 0)"> Document <dtml-var id> <BR> </dtml-with> </dtml-in> >This works just great for the first objetive. When playing with your example, I saw this behavior too. It seems to be the extra evaluation of the doc objects, which is avoided by using .getitem(aname, 0). -Jeff Rush
