I'd like to put a property of type 'lines' to an object on the file system throught its corresponding .metadata file, but don't know the syntax I shall use in the file. I remember having seen recently a similar question, and the answer seems to be that a patch is required for FSDV to recognize a lines-typed property. But I can't find the thread anymore. Can anyone give me a pointer? Thansk for helping. Hong Yuan

Hi! in first place i want to know if there is some tutorial that explains how the zope objects are stored and how to manipulated them! Seeking advice on Zope implementation

I have searched on this topic a bit but then could not find what I am looking for so posting my Zope questions here. Scenario: We have decided to use Zope as the web frontend to our python based application. So this will be implemented as Zope product. We have already started reading the docs available on zope.org. So far we have decided to use zope behind apache+fastcgi server to take advantage of apache rewrite engine and to serve static content. Questions: 1. Startup custmization: How can one configure zope to load instance of this as product (my application) on the startup but not the ZMI and other zope stuff. 2. We want to generate xml using ZPTs and then apply xsl. Is the server side transformation supported? 3. Is there any good doc available that describes how to do things you do in ZMI programmatically? 4. Zope 2.7 / 3 ? Any pointers/suggestions? If you know any links that addresses above topics please let me know. TIA.

setPermissionDefault not setting anything

Hi! In a python product I'm trying to set default permissions. Same as in http://www.zope.org/Collectors/Zope/275 nothing is set at all, no error is raised, no error message is logged. This is on Zope 2.7.5. So I tryed out the Test Class from that issue and I get the same results. Am I doing something completely wrong? Is something wrong with my setup? I could upgrade to 2.7.6 too, but I don't see any changes in the code for SecurityInfo.py from the zope CVS (unless of course I look in the wrong place: http://cvs.zope.org/Zope2/lib/python/AccessControl/SecurityInfo.py.diff?r1=… ) I would be really happy to learn what I am doing wrong. Unable to delete a object in Dreamweaver MX.

Hello, My clients aren't able to delete a object from Dreamweaver MX. Is this a know issue ? Do I need a special security setting. The clients are able to login and upload a file. Who can help me ? Thankx... Martin Koekenberg

Hi Paul, yes I did, but not as an external python method, which is what I was hoping for. What I ended up doing was defining a cgi-local folder under the Apache site root, which sits in front of my Zope instance. UserFolder problem

Hi All, hope you can help... I have a problem trying to use the LDAPUserFolder product. Basically I have a site named www.myname.com, and the site is Plone powered. I have a normal UserFolder at the top level folder which holds the members who have manager roles etc. On the site I have a folder called "Staff" and a folder called students. Now for LDAP. I have an Ldap server which has a tree called Business, then under the tree are two more subfolders (called staff and student). I need to get the staff folder of the site authenticating against the staff tree in LDAP. So I go into the staff folder, add a LDAPUserFolder and set the settings up correctly. I then navigate to the staff folder and make the pages viewable to only members, managers and authenticated users. Thing is, when I try and view the page I am asked to login, but it automatically uses the root acl_users folder, and not the one in the "staff" folder. So, the page re-drects you to http://myname.com/login_form which doesnt work with the LDAP usernames etc, but I know LDAP is definately working because If I point to http://myname.com/staff/login_form it works. Is there any way of setting which userfolder plone looks at? Many thanks for your time. Phil

What does Access Content Info. mean for folders?

Maybe I'm just lame, but I can't find a description of the commonly used Zope permission anywhere. (Isn't it missing from the "Users and Security" chapter of the Zope book? How I am supposed to manage the site security if I know everything but the meaning of the concrete permissions?) Mostly, I would like to *know* (as opposed to try-and-guess) what does "Access contents information" mean. The definitions I have found on the Net was rather foggy. I guess because the meaning of this permission depends on the object in question... but is there a summary for the most commonly used objects at least? Especially, what does it mean for folders? At the first glance it specifies if I can get a contained object, but then I have found that somehow it doesn't apply to the contained objects that are folders, because I can always get those. Corrupt Data.fs / ZODB

Sorry, I already wrote nearly the same mail in April but nobody answered. Since I cannot believe that there is no simple and well known solution for this problem - which probably affects many zope users - I try the same posting again. Any help is welcome but it should not be an option to erase the last 3 months of work and to return to the state before the mistake. ____________________ original posting _________________________________ I just found out that my Data.fs is corrupt. Zope is still running, and restarting but I'm getting POSKeyErrors if I want to see folder contents and in many other situations. I tried to follow the advice in http://www.zopelabs.com/cookbook/1095965033 (I use Zope-2.7.4) but end up with the 5th item there which says !! !! 5. Get at the Zope path for the container of the object that's throwing the POSKeyError: !! !! >>> obj=root.unrestrictedTraverse('/path/to/container') When I try this I get >>> obj=root.unrestrictedTraverse('/folder') Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in ? NameError: name 'root' is not defined what's wrong here? I don't know what the author of this text means with '/path/to/container' and what I have to put there for 'root'.
