MySQLdb and unicode

Hi there, I have a problem using MySQLdb and unicode. with older version (0.92) I could set a parameter "unicode" to the connect() method to tell MySQLdb what charset to use. This parameter is not accepted anymore. The only way to deal with non ascii character I found was setting pythons default charset to utf-8. is ther an other way ? thanks Robert

The "closest one" looking towards the root of the ZODB will be used when accessing a resource, and if it cannot resolve the credentials the next one up is consulted, until you reach the root user folder. The fact that authentications falls through to the root user folder makes me thing the LDAPUserFolder instance is misconfigured. jens

Password Protection

This may be a really simple thing to do (but I'm a bit stuck and searched the web but found no answers). I have a Plone site working great. I have a folder which I wish to password protect (and all of the data in the folder). Thing is, I want to use our LDAP server for authentication. I have the site setup as normal with an ACL_users folder. I then have a folder called "protected". In this folder I have added a LDAPUserFolder object and linked it with our main LDAP server. Question is, how do I use this LDAPUserFolder to provide authentication for the "Protected" folder? Thanks

xemacs ftp and scripts

Hello, I am very new to zope, and I am not an experienced lisp programmer - please accept the standard Newbie apologies. I am avoiding the use of DHTML, as this seems to be the approved policy. Most of my work has been using page templates, and internal and external python scripts. I am trying to use Xemacs to develop and maintain a site that I created via the web interface. I have connected using the xemacs ftp link, and can edit. I have a couple of problems. Firstly, my xemacs did not recognise my Script(Python) files as being Python, and so it does not automatically switch to Python Major Mode. I added the standard shebang "#! /usr/bin/python" to the start of the file which fixed this. However it would be nice if it were to recognise Zope's script preamble. Please could someone point me at a resource to help me configure my Xemacs for this. Secondly, I found that after I had edited a script the web interface no longer showed the file as a python script, but as a DHTML file. When used, I just saw the script contents. Is this related to my adding the shebang? I have now removed it again, but it has not fixed the problem. Is there any way I can switch them back (without using copy and paste)? How do I avoid this happening? I am using Debian "Sarge" Linux, which provides Zope 2.7. Epoz and Tidy

How do I control tidy options when using Epoz and uTidyLib? I'd like it to output xhtml, but it is currently outputting uppercase tag names etc. Robert (Jamie) Munro

ZEO and session variables.

I am just setting up a multi-headed distributed system with several Zope heads all communications with a ZEO backend. The zopes can be on the same machine or on different machines connected through a high speed backbone. In our system, all zopes are frontended with pound. zope1 | zope2----- ZEO-----zope3 | zope4 We make heavy use of session variables. Normally, with a single Zope session variables are stored in a temporary folder, but, as such, they are are not shared between the zope heads. In the multiheaded system, the session variables need to be shared and therefore must be managed by ZEO. UML Statechart Diagrams and DCWorkflow

Hi! I would like to know if there is any initiative to make DCWorkflow more compatible with UML Statechart diagrams. I mean, make it support things like forks, joins, /do,/entry, /exit and syncs. Or, if not, how can I implement such features using the actual DCWorkflow?
