Anybody tried using the form wiht file input type. Zope uses this to upload html files from user's disk. Question is how does it access the file in the form variables. I cannot see anything in the request that shows a file. When I access the file variable all I can see is a file name that the user entered. Any ideas ? Thanks sathya rangaswamy

A cut-down user control system..

Greetings fellow Zope fans, I'm working on a test site using Zope 2.0.0 (which I am VERY impressed with..) and have hit one small problem which I cannot get my head around (although I guess it's probably quite simple..) I want to be able to include a page allowing specified users (ie: a manager at the company whose intranet site this system will be used) to add/remove users whom are allowed to use resources, HOWEVER, I only want him to be able to add/remove users, and put them in a limited range of groups (ie: staff, sales, etc..), NOT to be able to assign/change admin privileges, preferable not be able to change all users, etc, etc, etc.. I've tried hacking at the existing whatever/acl_users/.... pages used by the manage system, but cannot quite get this to do what I want (infact, cannot really get near). Upgrading Observation/Question

Ok, thi sis _not_ a question on how-ro upgrade, after tracking all the betas, i think I got that one down pat. ;^) This is more of an observation and a question regarding it. I am running my Zope Servers (100% ZServer Based) on Linux. For my upgrade process, I back up my var directory, and copy the source tree into my site directory (I run several ZServers on this machine). I then execute "python wo_pcgi". Now, I have been stopping and starting Zope after doing this. However, for some reason, before I did this, I clicked on the Control Panel in the admin screens, and found it reporting the new version! I suspect it does not hurt anything, but i was wondering what the folks at DC think. Is the restart of ZServer unneccessary? If-so-this-is-way-cool-ly y'rs Bill Anderson

return type of methods for use in "in" tag

a quick one: what type of object does an external method have to return that I want to call in an "in" tag? Returning Arrays

Hi, How do I make a DTML method "return" an array? I know that it's trivial to make it return text, but how about an array? Specifically, I want to have a method that selects a certain group of objects. Then, I want to use this group of objects as part of a dtml-in in another method that calls the first. Ideas? radius authentication instead of flatfile or userdb?

Hello all! I am just curious to see if anyone is working on this type of stuff! I have some ideas for use at work that would benefit from authentication with a SecurID or a smartcard/certificate. Is anyone working on this type of toy? I will settle for using a Radius server to act as a proxy to authenticate with a SecurID. I will eventually look at UserDb and the flatfile authentication products myself to see if I can figure this out, but I am new to Python. Clarence T. Pate

http://www.ebt.com/corporate/news/1999-08-31-15.xml Looks like a company wants to charge people $60,000 for just *one* of the things Zope can do for free... i.e., hierarchically managed collections of XML documents for dynamic, personalized display and fine-grained searching of XML structure. Oh wait, silly me, it must cost that much because it only works with Netscape Enterprise Server or IIS on NT or Solaris, and because it requires client-side software to be installed for managing the content. :) Heck, I'll bet for $60,000 Digital Creations would come out to your site, install Zope and help you get it set up the way you wanted it. :)

(Though I think there may be a number of situations where the ZODB is cleaner, but maybe I'm just an object bigot :) The really straightforward thing to do would be something like this: Event ZClass (inherits from CatalogAware, ObjectManager) - EventDate ZClass (may inherit from CatalogAware for doing date-range manipulation) Event could have a function, as Itamar suggested, that zips through the EventDate objects (<dtml-in "objectValues('EventDate')">) and sees if there is a match. Or, you could grab all matching EventDate objects (through the Catalog) and then use parent[1] to get the Event info. This is a one-to-many relationship with no redundancy, and it should perform pretty well, I think. You could, of course, use a list property instead of an EventDate ZClass... but I don't think you would get the same Catalog benefit then. Kevin

Strange Tree Error

Hi, I have a tree set up for use as my site map. I wanted to add Expand All and Collapse All features, which are no problem to add; the documentation covers them quite nicely. My Collapse All button works fine. The tree works fine, too, and everything can be expanded. However, the Expand All link doesn't work; it gives an error: Error Type: KeyError Error Value: branches And claims that something is referencing the non-existant branches. Here is my code.
