I have a folder that contains 'News Items' (new Zope Portal Site). I want to display the title of the 'News Items' on a page. Basically my little news section. How can I do this? Error parsing pcgi info file

I've seen this problem reported at least once, but I can't seem to find any response in the list archive... I'm running solaris 2.6 and and able to run the 2.0.0a2 version without serious problems (ie. it runs at least through PCGI) ALL of the beta's I have tried have done this however: The server is running (ps -elf | grep py shows it to be running after I start it by running the Zope.cgi manually from the command line) However if I access Zope.cgi through apache I consistently get this error back: The resource you requested is temporarily unavailable - please try again later. Error parsing pcgi info file pcgi-wrapper-version 2.0a5 the info file is unmodified from when I ran w_pcgi.py initially. Stranger yet the pcgi_wrapper version is the same in the alpha release I am also running. Installation bug?

I'm also getting a message from PCGI that it had an "Error parsing pcgi info file pcgi-wrapper-version 2.0a5" This is with 2.0.0b5. The odd thing is that if I use the following: http://www.mysite.com/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi things work just fine - I get the Zope welcome screen. But, if I try to do the same thing with a secure server: https://www.mysite.com/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi the resource is "temporarily unavailable". I know that the secure server works, because the same thing worked with 2.0.0a4. Am I overlooking something that has changed from a4 to b5? Any ideas what would cause the secure version to fail? Thanks for the tip Stephan, I have done as you suggested, assuming that 'var/serve.pid' is the file in question. I have also done 'chmod o+w var/serve.pid'. However, this doesn't help. I notice a file 'var/Data.bbb.trans' containing 'SDBMV@@'. Data Containers

hello guys, after reading the Z Class Tutorial today I came to the following conclusion: There are actually three major data containers for Zope: XML Documents, Databases and ZClasses. XML Documents: ============== Advantages: * very common format * many, many application understand it * open standards are defined and will be soon widely implemented (XML, CSS, XSL, DOM) * integrates nicely into zope by creating a tree * Can be used with catalog (????) Disdvantages: * still a little slow for large data pieces * HTML output a little complex (a lot of render methods) Usage: Documentation, White Papers, News, Polls, Threaded Discussions Databases: ========= Advantages: * usually very fast data access * can contain large amounts of data * fast search by indexing Disadvantages: * needs Adapter for every different type of DB * depends strongly on Python's DB modules * does not integrate well into Zope (not ZCatalog ...) Usage: * member records, financing, data warehousing ZClasses: ======== Advantages: * natural to Zope * easily indexed through ZCatalog * great for web specific data Diadvantages: * not appropriate for large amounts of data (????) Usage: News, Threaded Discussions, Polls, Document Collectors As you can see some Usage items appear on several containers. I would like the community to comment on my points and correct them where necessary. XML documents and International character set

Hi, I played a little bit with the XMLDocument, this looks very interesting and opens a lot of possibilities, especially since you can use ZCatalog with XML-documents. That brings the question of international charactersets up. I tried to insert an "ö" into one of the example slides and get a parse error when hitting change. Hi, I'm looking for a software which can be used for an ECommerce Product. Is there anyone who has already experience using the ECommerce which is delivered with zope?
