Hi all, This is an off-topic question, but I wonder if somebody can help me decide. What database should you use? SyBase or PostGresSql? Both are free... Regards, Tom.

Database connection objects automatically connect when they are "woken up" from the object database (unless for some reason they cannot connect, like a bad connection string or something...). There are many ways of approaching this. One is: F1: Form that collects info (some Javascript data validation) D1: Target of F1 with some DTML that also does data validation ZSQL1: SQL Method --Rob

ZSQL Question - required type

I have created a ZSQLMethod which does an insert into a table. All arguments have the "required" type. When I test the method this works fine. The problem comes when I call the method through a DTML document as the required type seems to be ignored. Is this correct behavior? Is it normal to POST form data to an intermediate DTML document or direct to the query template? I need to do some data validation along the way. As far as check, python's re and regex modules are not hostile to 8-bit. Their manuals say so(or am I misinterpreted English?) And regex.search works fine with Korean(=bit & 2byte) character string. When I saw Zope/lib/python/Products/ZCatalog/Catalog.py, it impoted regex. Not re. Hence I guess the obstacle lay in Zope/lib/python/SearchIndex/*.c files. But this is just guess & I am an C-illiterate. I wish somebody in DG with python-C-source literacy do find out what is going in ZCatalog. best wishes. Lee Kwan Soo. Declaring a date property

Did you guys encounter problems in definining a date property in Zope? I did. I tried putting many different date formats as the default value but it still failed. For instance, 1973/2/2, 3,3,1998, Aug 7, 1998, ..etc. So what's the proper date format that I need to key in?? Thanks.
