Something very interesting... I changed the code as you said, and, as I sort of figured, it didn't work (only because I saw that python has no way to convert strings to ints). But in the process I found something else. If you'll note, on my previous message I had the line: <!dtml-call "manage_changeProperty(numtemp = numtemp + 1)"> On the message you sent me, you had: <dtml-call "manage_changeProperty(prop = prop + 1)"> Note the exclamation mark I added. I added it because, without it, Zope can't find manage_changeProperty. For a little while things seemed to be working, except the error I was getting. But then Zope hung indefinitely (over 20 minutes) for loading a page, so we killed the python process. Upon further testing, I discovered that my line would sort of work when viewing index_html once. If I pressed "change" on index_html without changing anything after that first viewing, Zope would once again hang indefinitely (taking up 98% of the CPU while it was at it). Donner

Zope in schools

Hi *, I'm going to be building a Web site for my high school science department over the next few weeks, and I'd like to get some suggestions from this group. I'm one of the teachers BTW, working on this site as part of my M.Ed. I am so impressed with Zope. I can envision lots of ways to use it to create a site that will keep my students coming back and provide an additional way to communicate with their parents about our courses. I've been following this listserv for a few weeks now, reading some docs, and thinking, but I want to ask: If you were going to create a Web site for a high school science department (the coolest such Web site every conceived :-), how would you utilize Zope? Think big! I hope your comments can help me identify and prioritize features that would have maximum affect on my students' learning. -Tim -- Timothy D. In my searches for web-collaboration software (as part of my research for new features which might be incorporated into Squishdot), I found this website, www.blackboard.com, which sells a high-priced commercial product, but you could probably glean a lot of ideas from it which can easily be re-implemented in Zope. Any recommendations on folder and content organization?

hi all, I'm developing an in-house bug database in Zope with bugs stored in an external SQL database. I'm writing many many ZSQLMethods and I'm beginning to wonder if there is a better way to organize how I'm storing them. I'm ending up with many SQL methods at my top level because all decendant things in folders may need to refer to them. But this is cluttering up my navigation through my Folders because I have to look at all of the SQL methods. What I would like is some way to have a folder just for SQL methods that is below the root and some way to refer to this folder from anywhere below the root. root | --- SQLMethods | --- sub folder 1 | |___sub sub folder 1 | --- sub folder 2 All of the sub folders should be able to reference stuff in SQLMethods. Newbie question about trees
