Hi! I've discovered with Zope 2.0.0a3, that the treetag doesn't create the [+]/[-] urls correctly: It leaves out any ? parameters, which doesn't work to well with SQL queries which need their parameters. Andreas -- Win95: n., A huge annoying boot virus that causes random spontaneous system crashes, usually just before saving a massive project. Easily cured by UNIX. It shouldn't be your tab characters -- I tried adding tabs to a document in Zope 1.11.0pr1, and Zope returned the correct content type. The code to determine whether a document is binary can be found in OFS\content_types.py: find_binary=ts_regex.compile('[\0-\6\177-\277]').search When Zope detects binary data, it returns the content type application/octet-stream rather than text/html. Although as you can see, this won't be triggered by tabs, in my opinion the above regex is way too stringent: This has the unfortunate effect of treating documents with valid, non-binary ISO characters -- including international characters, the Euro, Pound and Yen symbols, TM, and old-style fractions. Sure, HTML character-reference entities can (and should?) be used instead of the actual characters, but that doesn't change the fact that the binary detection is just plain wrong. Btw, you should search your document carefully for the offending characters. Since it's unlikely that the tabs are triggering the problem, there ought to be others. For my own Zope installation I just commented out the binary check, though. Changing tree icon colors

My site uses the chocolate style sheet from w3.org and as such is fairly dark. Binary data in Zope DTML documents

Hi all, I have a database which has a field called content, this field is mostly text but has a few 'tab' chars in it. It seems that zope then treats this data differently and Netscape then tries to download the file rather tahn render it. IE though renders it correctly! Is it just me or does Zope do this sort of thing, that is, make a distinction when a file has 'binary' data in it. Any ideas? TIA Phil phil(a)philh.org

DTML / HTML and Emacs PSGML Mode

Dear fellow Zopistas, I wonder if any of you are using Emacs psgml mode to edit DTML and HTML documents for Zope. Maybe you could give me a few tips. I have two questions in particular. They both arise from the fact that psgml only wants to generate syntactically valid sgml code: 1) Is there some trick to get psgml to work with files such as the following?  <h2></h2> <p> This is the  Document. </p>  Really, I want psgml to act as if the file is in an enclosing <body>. From the documentation, it seems that using the variable sgml-parent-document might help, but my attempts to generate such a parent document were not successful. 2) I do not understand how the <dtml-var> syntax fits into the HTML / XMLscheme of things. At first sight, it appears that, if I had a DTD that specified the dtml-var entities etc, then using psgml would be a really easy means to generate files in this syntax. Does such a DTD exist? If not, is it theoretically possible to capture the syntax with a DTD? --- Alastair

Extracting binary data from image

hello all, any ideas on why i get an error when i execute the following:  this is coming in from a form, with ENCTYPE set to multipart/form-data, but it throws up an error. Also does anyone know where there is a complete list of all the properties of the REQUEST object? Experimental DTML syntax future???

Is the experimental DTML syntax <dtml-foo>&dtml-bar;</dtml-foo> added to DocumentTemplates last month going to be permanent or will it be hosed in the future? I find it preferrable over the standard syntax and would like to use it on a site, but I do not want to have to convert everything back at a future time. Thanks, Jarrod Kinsley

You can easily build your own. Add an External Method that points to this function: import urllib def Include(Url): return urllib.urlopen(Url).read() Then, assuming you called the External Method "Include", call it up like so:  Simple. Here's a small example. The DTML Method to view your table should look something like this:: ...   <table> <tr> <th>Name</th> <th>Age</th> </tr>  <tr> <td><a href="ViewRecord?id:int="></a></td> <td></td> </tr>  </table>   No records.  ... where AllRecordsSql is an SQL Method that returns the whole table, with columns "recid", "name", and "age". Your ViewRecord DTML Method should look like so::  <form action="" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="id:int" value=""> <table> <tr> <th align="right">Name</th> <td><input type="text" name="name" value=""></td> </tr> <tr> <th align="right">Age</th> <td><input type="text" name="age:int" value=""></td> </tr> </table> <input type="submit" name="SaveRecord:method" value="OK"> <input type="submit" name="index_html:method" value="Cancel"> </form>  Record not found.  where FindRecordSql is an SQL Method that does something like select recid, name, age from people where recid =  This form uses a Zope trick that allows you to have multiple submit buttons, each triggering a different method on the parent folder. Also note how I use things like ":int" to indicate the type of form variables; otherwise Zope will just stringize everything. Your SaveRecord DTML Method could look like this::  Or it could look like this::  Or like something else; I do prefer myself to pass SQL arguments explicitly, though, rather than just pushing the complete REQUEST namespace. You can also use _.namespace() to pass your arguments.
