Using Zclasses

I've been playing around with Zclasses for awhile, but have reached a bit of a stumbling block. I want to create a set of Zclasses that can only be contained within certain other Zclasses. An arbitrary example would be a 'book' object that can only be created inside a 'shelf' object. I also would like to add a property to a ZClass that is a pointer to an instance of another ZClass of a certain type. An arbitrary example would be a 'Book' ZClass that has an 'Author' property that points to an instance of an 'Author' ZClass. Does anyone have any hints as to how to accomplish this sort of thing? Feel free to recast the problem in terms of the ZClasses tutorial 'CD' examples. Michael Bernstein.

Newbie: How to UPDATE records in MySQL?

I have MySQL database connected to ZOPE 1.10.3. I can search and INSERT new records, but I don't know how to edit and UPDATE single records. I think that a single record in a database can be updated in the following way: 1. Search the database and display the results in tabular format (it is already working). 2. Select a single record to edit - I do not know how to make a link from tabular search result to a single record (i.e. hyperlink from a record first field to page with forms containing data preloaded from fields to be edited. 4. POST the changed form and UPDATE the database record. Could you please send me some sample code? Are there any on-line documentation I can read? I have found plenty of information about searching and inserting data into internet accessible databases but no information about updating database records. TIA

Hi! Any way to allow a normal user (without the Management role) to change his own password? Andreas -- Win95: n., A huge annoying boot virus that causes random spontaneous system crashes, usually just before saving a massive project. Easily cured by UNIX. See also MS-DOS, IBM-DOS, DR-DOS, Win 3.x, Win98.

Your object is not being saved persistently because you are not assigning to self.customers (the customers attribute of the self object, which is an instance of AddressBook) but you are rather assigning to a localy defined object customers. Since your code is not complete enough to tell what you want 'customers' to be, this is my best guess. Zope 2.0.0a3 tree tag bug???

Hi! I've got the following problem: I'm using a tree widget as my navigation toolbar. (http://www.mtg.co.at/) Now, when I'm in a query, that NEEDS some parameters (like most ZSQL methods do), when I press on a [+] to expand a tree view, I get an error, because the generated URL doesn't include the needed parameters. So how do I solve this problem, because this makes the treewidget in concept unusable for navigation on a general site. Shouldn't the tree widget include always the complete QUERY String of the current object? (POST is more complicated, as the HTTP standard forbids reposts without human interaction, so missing POST values will have to be processed by the object somehow.)
