Perhaps the 'perfect browser' could offer that as a feature. :) It's handy to have a document called 'logout' in the root folder with the following DTML:  This will allow you to log in as another user, it's still a bit of a kludge because it tries to access logout again (which raises another unauthorized) so you have to first hit cancel, and then try for another page manually. regexp - searching documents under a folder tree.

All, Does anyone know of any methods which exist for searching either a document's title or contents recursively under a Folder tree? Something along the lines of a regexp search would be great. Any suggestions before I attempt to conquer my first external method :) Cheers, -Tim

how come I can't add an external method...

Hi all, I'm trying to add this snippet as an external method ------ import htmlfmt def test(): "Testing zope 1" a = htmlfmt.UL(("1", "2", "3")) return a print test() ----- (htmlfmt is a library from the van Rossum, Watters and Ahlstrom book 'Internet programming with Python'). It does work... 96 % python test.py <UL> <LI>1 <LI>2 <LI>3 </UL> but trying to add this as an external method just does not happen. I'm left staring at a rotating beachball while the system tries to add it to the database. Beginner DTML question: dereferencing a variable

I know the answer to this must be pretty simple, but I can't work it out from any of the docs and it's driving me nuts. I have a variable that contains a username:  I want to check if a folder of that name already exists under the current folder, so I can decide to create it or not. Intuitively, I first tried:  <H3>FOLDER EXISTS</H3>  <H3>FOLDER DOES NOT EXIST</H3>  But all this seems to detect is if the variable is set or not. :( Other variations are getting me nowhere ... what's missing? -- Martin Dougiamas

Thanks to DC, the CookieCutter product can be dowloaded at http://www.zope.org/Download/Contrib/CookieCutter.tar.gz The CookieCutter product allows the storage of multiple data objects of possibly differing types in a single cookie. This is accomplished by storing the objects in a dictionary which is pickled via dumps and sent in the cookie. At the server, the cookie is unpickled via loads and, if desired, copied into the REQUEST namespace. Documention is included in the product's doc string as well as README.txt. This really is a simple product and shoudn't be too hard to understand, improve, and customize. As a word of WARNING, Amos Latteier pointed out to me that this product poses security risks as it unpickles code received from over a network. There is a chance that a malicious user could put a trojan horse into a cookie that could compromise your server. I recommend studying the Python documentation for pickle before using this.You've been warned. Some other points: 1. CookieCutter doesn't (and can't) avoid cookie name clashes. 2. Dictionary keys contained in the cookie but not specified in the CookieCutter object are ignored. (This is a feature!) 3. If you're only storing strings, it might be more efficient to write a method to flatten out the dictionary into a "key<separator>value" like string and store that instead of a pickle. This would also reduce the security worry. 4. Pickles can get really big. You've got a 4KB limit but Be Nice. 5. I can never get my source code to look as good as everyone else's. >:^( 5. Ok, I have been prototyping a new website on a non-standard port, to keep the current one functional. Now that the new site is ready, and I switch it to port 80, I have a problem. I can acess the site just fine. However, when I try to go to the manage screen, it loops on contacting the server (from netscape). The logs fill up with: anderson - - [05/Apr/1999 16:58:29] "GET /manage_main HTTP/1.0" 401 - and anderson - - [05/Apr/1999 16:58:23] "GET /manage_menu HTTP/1.0" 401 - and anderson - - [05/Apr/1999 16:58:23] "GET /manage HTTP/1.0" 401 - Running the current download, without apache/pcgi. Hi! First off all I want to apologize if this question is way off topic here, but I'm stuck and don't know where else to turn my question. Heres the situation: I've made a form to let people search a database where they can choose wich datafields is going to be shown in the result (this is done by several checkboxes). Now if I pass this forms data onto a ZSQLmethod that handles the sql select query (variable names from the checkboxes are handled by ' - scentences') I end up with an error if not all of the checkboxes are checked out. What would be the correct way to have this handled? (Choose what data to be displayed) Sture Lygren
