ZTables can read .dbf files and do all sorts of magic with them, generating HTML files being one thing. ZTables is 'above the line' meaning it is not free. This is a little trick we use to get mailman and cvsweb under our www.zope.org domain. For example: RewriteRule ^/mailman - [l] RewriteRule ^/pipermail - [l] RewriteRule ^/stats - [l] RewriteRule ^/cgi-bin - [l] RewriteRule ^/icons - [l] RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} ^(.*) RewriteRule ^/(.*) .../$1 [e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION:%1,t=application/x-httpd-cgi,l] The ... is the absolute path to our Zope.cgi. Each of the preceding RewriteRules before the big one trap out any requests. The - means don't rewrite anything. The special magic is the 'l' flag. This means not to procede any further with any other rules. Of course, this means we can't ever see a 'mailman' object we create in our Zope root folder. Getting an external method to work

Hello, I'm completely new to Zope and I'm trying to understand how external methods work. From the documentation it seems like it should be very simple but yet I can't make it work. Here is what I have done: 1. Created a folder in the Zope directory called Extensions. 2. Created a python script: def Testzope(): "Testing zope" return 'Does this work?' 3.Named the script testzope.py and placed it in the Extensions folder. 4. I went to the zope management interface and added a folder called testfolder. 5. Within the testfolder I added an External method with ID testingzope, function name Testzope, and module file testzope (without the suffix). 6. When I hit Try It within the management interface it works correctly. 7. When I try to access it from outside the interface I consistently get "Document not found." 8. Here is how I try to access it: localhost:9673/testfolder/testzope/Testzope 9. Anything else I add (DHTML docs) seems to work fine and show up externally. Any ideas? ZSybaseDA undefined symbol: bsd_tcp

Hi everybody, Well, I tried very hard, there must be something I am doing wrong here. I have a working Apache/Zope system, plus a working Sybase installation, but I cannot get them to work together on my SuSE 6.0 system. I have commented out -ltli in order to compile ctsybasemodule, compiled ok, but the ZSybaseDA product is still broken. I am using the Python that comes with Zope, is there some trick in the way it loads shared libs? /opt/sybase/lib is in /etc/ld.so.conf, of course... Any help will be appreciated, thanks. Andrei

dbf-zope integration

I have a bunch of html files (about 40) generated from single dbf file by a little FoxPro program once a week. The rest of the site is Zopish, but these files IMSO (in my silly opinion) have to be uploaded one-by-one into Zope, _or_ gzipped, moved to server, ungzipped and fsimported.... any better solution? I want to move our whole website under Zope. But some static subdirectories must be maintained traditionally, i.e. they should be FTP-accessible, and served directly by Apache. (the latter is not neccessary, but I believe there is no support for ftp upload in Zope yet). I figured that when I put rewrite rule pointing to "directories exempt from Zope" just before Zopish rewrite rule, everything would be fine, correct? -- Milos Prudek

Tone, Yup, but I'm kinda caught with NFS in the picture. They clear /tmp (or cron does) on a 7 day cycle, so I'm looking at the idea of doing a cron within that time to back up the DB, delete it, and replace it. Gonna be tricky, but unless someone has another suggestion for getting around NFS with a somewhat reluctant-to-begin-with ISP (and yes, I'm looking at my ISP options)... I may even try to do this within Zope. We'll see. Oh, and a request. Not to be a jerk about it, but could you reply to me as well as the list in the future. I digest the list, and don't always catch the incoming digest. 'sides, it's easier to just hit reply on a message than extract, reply, etc. :+) Thanks, Chris PS A relatively naive question, I s'pose, but can anyone shed light on why, after all this time, NFS is still such a pain. And, I'm under the impression that NFS is fairly common. Why aren't there more folks having problems with Zope? Or am I the only one without root access around here? <cha-grin>

Zope on WinCE Professional (ver 2.00)

I'm considering purchasing a device using the newest WinCE op sys. to run and develop Zope applications. Is anyone using such a device successfully? I seem to recall a problem when no network adaptor is attached. Does this problem resolve itself if a PCMCIA card is inserted, but still not attached to a network? ie used in a mobile situation.
