I got stuck implementing the examples in "A Technical Introduction to Object Publishing with Zope" <http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Reference/ObjectPublishingIntro> with the stand-alone ZPublisher. In the "guestbook.py" example, what should be the URL invoked to show the form? The module is called guestbook.py, the class is GuestBook and the method is defined as "def guestbookForm(self)". I've been succesful installing and runnig the previous examples but in this case I don't know what should be the first URL called to run the Guestobook application. If I type: <http://localhost/cgi-bin/GuestBook.zcgi/GuestBook> I get this: -- GuestBook.GuestBook -- (The Guesbook __repr__?) If I type: <http://localhost/cgi-bin/GuestBook.zcgi/GuestBook/guestbookForm> I get: -- Sorry, an error occurred. I just figured the problem out, sorry to bother you with this... I volunteer to write a How-to about installing and running the examples in "A Technical Introduction to Object Publishing with Zope", if anyone thinks this would be worthwhile. For the sake of anyone who might get confused with this issue, here is the URL required to run the guestbook.py example (in my machine): <http://localhost/cgi-bin/GuestBook.zcgi/myGuestBook/guestbookForm> In my example: - GuestBook.zcgi is the customized 'cgi-template' mentioned in the cgi/README file that comes with ZPublisher. It is configured with: PUBLISHED_MODULE = 'GuestBook' INCLUDE_PATHS = ['/apache/zmodules'] - The source file of the example, GuestBook.py is placed in /apache/zmodules - myGuestBook is the GuestBook instantiated in the last line of GuestBook.py Maybe a sample URL should be included in the "Technical Introduction", since the GuestBook is the first concrete example of a real object being published (the previous examples only publish stand-alone functions). Starting Zope?

Hello, I just installed Zope on my Linux-box a few days ago, and I must say I'm impressed. I tried Zope-zserver, but figured that I'd rather have it running through Apache. So I followed the WEBSERVER.TXT, but it didn't work. After a while playing around with it, I noticed that pcgi.pid and pcgi.soc wasn't in /var/local/zope/. I don't know what, but something made me run Zope.cgi from Apache's cgi-bin-directory, and suddenly pcgi.pid and pcgi.soc were there! Of course Zope.cgi gave me some error messages, but now the thing is working. What did I miss? Is this in the docs somewhere? Do I have to start something before I try to access Zope through the web-browser. We have installed Zope but can't get it to authenticate. We have placed it in Dick's account so he can play around with it and try and get it working. We really want to offer this to NexusWeb clients but are at a wall and beyond what we know how to do. Hiding Products

I needed to have a container-like Product. In order to avoid re-inventing the wheel, I simply made it Folderish, and went about the meat of the Product. There is a companion Product which is contained by the Folderish Product to provide content. I don't particularily want the user/manager to be able to create this Product any old place, since it doesn't make sense out of context. It's not hard to throw an error, but I would rather the Product simply not show up in the list of Addable items in the management system. Is there a way to do this? DTML Doc property from DTML Method in tag

Hi, I'm having trouble getting at an DTML Document property from within an in tag in a DTML Method. I have a folder property that lists the documents I want to appear in a particular order. I would like to display the "title" and "summary" of those documents.    So, if the docs list contained an entry "test", what would I put in the var tag to get test.title? If I use "test.title", I get the title. If I try "sequence-item+'.title'" or "_[sequence-item+'.title']", I get a NameError. What simple little thing am I missing here? Hi, My solution is to write an Extension method using DateTime module. With year(), mm(), dd() methods the string.join() method and float() function give a way for a float representation like 19990215.0. Never heard about this module until looking inside /zope/lib/python/DateTime directory. Where Can I find information about PrincipiaTime() ? It's cool, cause it is my first realization with an Extension method and my life could be easer than with pur DTML. Do not create a class in Extension method modules. BHS 0.5

Hi! I've released BoboHTTPServer.py 0.5 today. (Not ZopeHTTPServer!) It has some features: -) URL renaming to support a frontend Apache. Instead of many options, you just provide the real external URL. (UserFriendly!!!) -) Support for more than one external (proxied) URL. -) Sensible usage message :) -) Zope support. (untested, as I do not have Zope :) ) -) Better documentation on how to integrate BHS with Apache. To summerize: BHS 0.5 is (should be, as it's untested with Zope) the easiest way to publish Bobo/Zope projects :), and it can basically do all the cases pcgi can with BHS 0.5 :) Could someone try if it works with Zope?
