I'm not understanding what you are trying to do here - why would you create a new database connection for each user? In Zope, you usually only need to add a single db connection object (by using "Add" in the management interface, not through code). Then you Add Z SQL Method objects, which encapsulate the various queries you want to run. The SQL Method objects just use the existing database connection. > > 3. - Help inserting into MySQL

I've been trying to make a simple application that posts news onto a news page (ala Slashdot or whatever) and then displays it dynamically. I have gotten the display pages to work fine, but I'm having trouble with the Insert page. When you submit, it does " " The "news" object is the same page that displays the news. "insertnews" is a Z SQL method that accepts four arguments (shown above). It also inserts the current timestamp (using PrincipiaTime). So, what silly (and wrong) thing could I have done to cause this error? Thanks for any help. There was a bug in the DA that caused queries that produced no results to fail :( This has been fixed. I'm not quite sure that there really is a solution for this problem, so I didn't add it to the bug list, but it is something to think about. Can ayone think of a good way to keep DTML from infinetly looping? We would like to be able to offer the zope managment screens to our customers, unfortunatly we discovered it's real easy to lock the server up with a little bit of DTML. For exaple. Create a folder and place a document method in it and call it index_html. Place this line in the index html file.    Then add one sub folder with nothing in it so that this folder will aquire the index_html method from the parent folder. Preheat your oven to 350, and view your document. If you look at /Control_Panel/Products/ZMySQLDA in the management interface, do you see a "traceback" tab? If so, what does the traceback say? You might also ensure that the MySQLmodule.so that you created has its permissions set so that the Zope process can read and execute it. - alter the default public interface?

Hi, joining the list! Hello to all. When adding a folder, the default is to create as a public interface the viewable file index.html. Is it possible to alter the default, so that my version is created each time? Also it would be handy if the cursor could be at my chosen location on that page instead of having to activate the page with the mouse as at present. Tim Fraser

Dear All: I am unable to get Zope to work with Apache for the past week or so after multiple attempts (on Linux and Solaris). So i am going to email to the group one last time: Here are my setup: Solaris 2.6 x86 Apache 1.3.3 Zope 1.9b3 (released just today) I did get the dialog box to popup and ask me for Username and Password. So I typed in the username and password in my $ZOPE_DIR/access file. I get back Authentication Failed message. mod_rewrite is working and I confirmed that with LogLevel 9 so it logs matched URL. Here are the mod_rewrite rules/conds from the httpd.conf file: RewriteEngine on RewriteLog "/usr/local/apache_1.3.3/logs/rewrite.log" RewriteLogLevel 9 RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} ^(.*) RewriteRule ^/Zope/(.*) /usr/local/apache_1.3.3/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi/$1 [e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION:%1,t=application/x-httpd-cgi,l] I have also tried the other RewriteRule that was posted to the Zope web site. The message that I get back (if I do not want to retry after I get the authorization failed header) is: You are not authorized to access this resource. Username and password are not correct. - Zope with Apache Newbie

S.U.S.E Linux 5.2. upgraded to Python 1.5.1, Apache upgraded to 1.3.1. Installed Zope 1.9. All compiled from source. Python works, Apache works. "rewrite" compiled in all apache config files (3) checked and rechecked. nobody and nogroup permissions set in apache and Zope Var directory and files. Zope.cgi linked to apache cgi-bin. No Zope, however on access attempt from browser. Have read all related posts, and still don't "get it. Pretty sure pcgi is not starting up at all. merry christmas to all :)
