Hi you all zopers... Looping URL's

We've been having a continual problem using Zope to serve as a campus-wide CMS. Non technical people are plaguing the server with malformed references, creating looping URLs that cause our search engine to fall over dead. I presume you all know what I'm talking about... the a/b/a/b/a/b URL's. We've focused on user-training, but we really need to find a way to make the server more bulletproof. I'm considering throwing a call into the template that compares the request URL with the absolute_url and redirects/logs when a discrepancy is found. Site goes funny when I logout

When I logout of my site the page goes crazy ... The layout is all over the place, the images don't render etc and I can no longer use the site(links don't work) until I shut down the browser and reopen. I am running plone/zope on windows behind apache. The problem only just started after I modified the rewrite rules to be something like RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.parasyn\.com.au$ RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://ip:port/VirtualHostBase/http/www.parasyn.com.au:80/corp/VirtualHo stRoot/$1 [P] Previously I did not have the rewritecond %(HTTP_HOST) in the rewrite rule, and the site worked fine, previously though I was using a different url too. ____________________________________________ Peter Millar

permissions (+ acquisition)

hi, I probably shouldn't start coding without a good knowledge of my tools, but this is the way I usually learn... I'm developing a small CMS-like (I know, there's CMF, Plone etc, but I'm playing...:)) the point is that I have site, say http://localhost:8080/test, with a subfolder for each registered user, an 2 page templates, view and edit this methods are in /test and are meant to work via acquisition so with http://localhost:8080/test/user/view any user (even anonymous) should view user data and with http://localhost:8080/test/user/edit only 'user' should edit the same data I can't figure out how to set permissions... as a workaround I modified edit to check user roles via getRolesInContext and assigned to each user the Owner role in his folder, leaving Ownership to admin (hope this is legitimate) I would prefer though a solution based only on Zope automatic roles/permissions management, without any test I hope it's clear thanks for any hint massimo

PCNG and persistence hook

I'm trying to write a mod to PCNG and am having trouble figuring out if there is a hook in 1.2.4 that allows triggering of code just after an issue has been edited/created. It seems that editing and creation are the same when it comes to persistence. macro context confusion

Is there a way make a macro get expanded within the context in which it is called (maybe it always does, and I'm just confused)? For example, I've got the following slot defined in /standard_template.pt <head> <metal:block define-slot="head"> <title tal:content="template/title">The Title</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/stylesheets/default.css" tal:attributes="href container/style" /> </metal:block> </head> and call the encompasing macro in a different directory/file: /computers/index_html the variable "container/style" is defined in the / directory as "/stylesheets/default.css" and in /computers/ as "/stylesheets/computers.css" when I test /computers/index_html, the stylesheet remains /stylesheets/default.css, even when I remove the explicit href="..." and leave only tal:attributes=.... in the macro. What I'm assuming here is that the macro must be expanded in the container that the macro is defined in rather than the container that it is being called in. That or i'm doing something wrong. What I'd like is to have a single template that can be used to generate a page with a different stylesheet depending on where it lies in the site folder hierarchy. Is there a better way to do this, or at least a way to fix what I've got? -davidc

keep from switching browser windows

I have a formulator form that I am using for data gathering. After the form is filled in and validated it redirects to a python script that generates XFDF data. (xfdf is Acrobat XML data) This when sent to the browser should open Acrobat in the same window and display the data in the PDF document, however it switches the browser to a different instance of the browser. If I take out the line: request.RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Type', 'application/Vnd.fdf') it will display the xml data in the same window. Is it possible to make the Acrobat start in the same window? The same thing happens if I put the URL into the browser. (goes to a differant window to open up the acrobat.) Help on installing zope and some products.

Hi All, A newbie to all this, I'm trying to install ERP5 on my WinXP system, and everything was going well..... until zope stopped loading and came up with the following message... Hi, all I want to take the taste of Zope3, so to install it in Fedora Core release 2's server, but I didn't get success. My config: os: Fedora Core release 2 gcc: gcc-3.3.3-7 Python: python-2.3.4 Zope: ZopeX3-3.0.0c2 but when I make, i got these message: /usr/bin/python install.py -q build cc1: error: invalid option `tune=pentium4' error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 make: *** [build] Error 1 could anyone give me tips? BTW: I posted it to zope3-dev list, but nobody help me out, so bother here. : ( TIA Zhou Zhen

Plone 2.0 and Apache 2.0 ugly screen after I logout

I am running plone 2.0 and Apache 2.0 on windows everything is fine until I logout. When I logout the images are cactus and I just see the little red cross . my style is all over the place and if I try to go back to the home page the site is just ugly. However if I start a new browser things are back to normal. I am using rewrite rules in apache : RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.parasyn\.com.au$ RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://ip:port/VirtualHostBase/http/www.parasyn.com.au:80/corporate/Virt ualHostRoot/$1 [P] A friend suggested it could be because I have caching turned on in apache but I have been up and down the httpd.conf file and cannot see anything. Has anybody seen this .
