Re: zcatalog corruption?
by Chris McDonough 03 Aug '04

Who knows why this happened; maybe a stray hasattr caught a read conflict error and a transaction was later committed that had improper data as a result. Or maybe it's more mundane, but I doubt unless it happens continually that you will be able to pin down the cause. In any case, fixing the symptom surgically isn't simple; it would take (for me at least) several hours of spelunking the source code and figuring out which data structures contain what and how they relate to each other, although it is possible. The "sledgehammer vs. fly" method is a complete recatalog; that's simple to do. You might want to try this, but first back up your Data.fs so in case it doesn't work or leaves it in an insane state that you can go back. If it's not possible to use the sledgehammer method for whatever reason, it is possible to surgically fix this, it would just take some effort. ZMI shows owner, but no local role owner on object
by Sune Brndum Wller 03 Aug '04

03 Aug '04

I have an object created by anonymous via some code in a product, that uses _setObject In the ZMI the owner of the container is shown as owner of the object, but the object has no local roles. (No owner local role) It has no _owner attribute either. The ZMI uses this to get the owner info (from owner.dtml): This object is <dtml-if owner_info><dtml-with owner_info mapping>owned by &dtml-id; (&dtml-path;).</dtml-with ><dtml-else>unowned.</dtml-if> Why does the ZMI show the object as having an owner, when it actually doesn't ? found this on the list: (...) Also, is this a DTML document or DTML method, because methods seem to acquire the roles from their container. (...) http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2000-March/106447.html aquisition at play ? But I recall that I have seen "This object is unowned" in the ZMI sometime. Sune

Does anyone have zgdchart 0.6.5 working in plone or zope on windoze
by Peter Millar 03 Aug '04

03 Aug '04

I have downloaded ZGDChart-0.6.5.tar.gz untarred and put in my zope/python/products directory. When I restart zope I have this error in my log file 2004-08-03T10:19:54 PROBLEM(100) ZODB Could not import class 'ZGDChart' from module 'Products.ZGDChart.ZGDChart' I notice on the wiki web page that earlier this year mdupont had the same problem and their resolution was that version 0.6.5 is for zope 2.7 . the interesting thing is that even though the tar file says 0.6.5 the version file only says 0.6.4 There is nothing in the products drop down, but the control panel products list shows that the ZGDChart product is quite happy ... ____________________________________________ Peter Millar

I tryed this with a number of ftp clients and editors that can load a file trough ftp. (I tried on two machines). If I do the same on a windows box everything is fine. what could be the reason ? thanks Robert

zcatalog corrupt?
by nwingfield＠dixon-hughes.com 03 Aug '04

03 Aug '04

I have a large ZCatalog (330,000+ objects) that has been in production for nearly a year. One particularly important index keeps track of client names so that users can quickly search by client. The index is a ZCTextIndex called 'clientString'. Sometime very recently, my query began raising an exception when users try to search on the term 'Smith'. My best guess is that one of the records in the catalog containing the word 'Smith' has been corrupted somehow. The query looks like this: container.catalogOfEFRObjects.searchResults({'clientString':'Smith'}) The traceback looks like this: Traceback (innermost last): ... Module Products.ZCatalog.ZCatalog, line 619, in searchResults Module Products.ZCatalog.Catalog, line 751, in searchResults Module Products.ZCatalog.Catalog, line 492, in search Module Products.ZCTextIndex.ZCTextIndex, line 184, in _apply_index Module Products.ZCTextIndex.ParseTree, line 118, in executeQuery Module Products.ZCTextIndex.BaseIndex, line 190, in search Module Products.ZCTextIndex.OkapiIndex, line 160, in _search_wids KeyError: 458693239 If I look up this key (458693239) in the catalog, I can find a path to the object. If I try to unindex/reindex the object, I get a similar error: Traceback (innermost last): Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 98, in publish Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 39, in call_object Module Products.ElectronicFileRoom.CatalogPathAwareness, line 106, in reindex_object Module Products.ElectronicFileRoom.CatalogPathAwareness, line 102, in unindex_object Module Products.ZCatalog.ZCatalog, line 530, in uncatalog_object Module Products.ZCatalog.Catalog, line 407, in uncatalogObject Module Products.ZCTextIndex.ZCTextIndex, line 166, in unindex_object Module Products.ZCTextIndex.OkapiIndex, line 67, in unindex_doc KeyError: 458693239 Can anyone offer a diagnosis and/or solution? Timezone problem
by drew nichols 01 Aug '04

01 Aug '04

Hi I have zope 2.6.2 running on redhat linux 7.3. linux date = Sat Jul 31 12:04:29 EST 2004 which is correct for eastern australian time where the server is located. Unfortunately the zope server internal workings are 14hr behind, so i assume it is running on US/Eastern. Is there a way to set the server default timezone for the zope server, or is this a linux issue? I can't seem to find any info about this anywhere. Thanks for any help. Drew

RE: [Zope] No-cache
by Joe Goldthwaite 30 Jul '04

Don't worry, I'm being careful. The program works perfectly with IE. It works with Firefox but you have to hit the refresh button if you want the options from the lower pages to display after you've moved back. That will do until I figure out how to get Firefox to work correctly. It may be a bug in Firefox so the problem might go away by itself. -----Original Message----- From: kosh [mailto:kosh@aesaeion.com] Sent: Thursday, July 29, 2004 10:53 PM To: joe(a)goldthwaites.com Subject: Re: [Zope] No-cache On Thursday 29 July 2004 11:03 am, Joe Goldthwaite wrote: > Sigh... You lock yourself into specific quirks of specific browsers. Also Windows XP SP2 looks like it is going to break a lot of IE specific stuff with its various security fixes. I know at least some places that are put into a situation of having security issues fixed or having their apps work and since they are so IE specific they are looking at having to rewrite them mostly from scratch to make them work. I have also found that since there is NO IE standard and never has been and likely never will be the quirks are very much quirks. They tend to break at any time for almost no reason. I have seen things like updating office breaking IE specific apps. At least if your app is cross browser if it breaks in one of them you can use the other one until it is fixed. So business can continue with almost no interruptions. If your app is IE only then it is not a web application it is a windows application and you would have been better off just making it a regular windows app and no using a webserver at all since it is just introducing another source of problems.
