Does anyone uses freetds + unixODBC + mxODBC Zope database adapter ?

Hi all, We are using freetds, unixODBC (with thread safety enabled) and mxODBC Zope DA to connect to a MSQL database from Zope on Linux. If we create several processes (through isql or tsql), freetds behaves correctly. However when opening more than 1 connection through egenix mxODBCZopeDA, Zope crashes and *reboot* silently (a new process is created.) It seems like a thread safety problem. If anyone has succeeded to achieve several connections with the same tools, we would like to know what are the version number of each tools, or any clue that could help us to identify the real problem. Hi, I've just released a new version of Epoz (0.8.3) - the cross-browser-wysiwyg-editor for Zope & Plone. Update is recommended for all Plone-Users (and of course for all non-Plone-Users as well...;), because an important bug was fixed when using the portal_factory (http://plone.org/collector/3243) Download Epoz: http://mjablonski.zope.de/Epoz Changes - added a FAQ. Pleae read it before asking questions... - added label for html-source-switch, because many people asked for it. Hope this helps clearing up the meaning of the little checkbox below the wysiwyg-area... - added translations for tidy-messages in the browser-status-bar to en & de. Please note: Don't use any entities if you want to translate, because the browser-status-bar doesn't support entities! - Fixed bug: missing form_path in epoz_script_widget caused problems when using portal_factory in Plone. Thanks to Danny Bloemendaal (for detecting the problem) and Geoff Davis for patch! Added a check to wysiwyg_support to detect document-creation via portal_factory. - Fixed bug: the Epoz-Iframe in epoz_script_widget wasn't loaded via an absolute url, so browsers could complain when running Epoz via https. hi list, i built a special object in zope, which holds most of its data outside of ZODB (in mySQL) obviously i had to override the _delObject() method, that at deletion of the zope object my external data is deleted too for better control of these special objects i built a special folder, which holds those objects my problem - when my special folder is subfolder of a normal folder, and this normal folder is renamed, the rename method of the above normal folder is triggered but a rename does deletion of the children object and creates a new one that means _my_ delObject() from special folder and special objects is executed and kills my external data )-: v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v def manage_renameObject(self, id, new_id, REQUEST=None): ... ... ob=self._getOb(id) ... ... self._delObject(id) ## this destroys my external data ob = aq_base(ob) ob._setId(new_id) ... ... v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v the problem seems for me that methods from parent container take actions on their children and children can never distinguish between delete by renaming and real delete a similar problem is cut / copy / paste where i cannot decide if copying my special object (for copy/paste) or doing nothing (for cut/paste) i have no idea how to solve this (without rewriting core zope elements like CopySource, ObjectManager), because i cannot get control over the parent objects from my folder do i heavily misunderstand something ??? can i solve this problem somehow ??? thank you for every input fritz (-:fs)

Odd Unicode error

I'm getting some odd Unicode errors in the Zope application I'm developing. The application has an Edit page which uses HTMLArea to provide a WYSIWYG interface to editing an HTML snippet. This snippet is then saved, and a Page Template reads it and inserts its contents when the page is viewed. Sometimes, after editing and saving a page, when I view it, I get a UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xa0 in position <some position>: ordinal not in range(128). As near as I can tell, it's evidently receiving an invalid value from the form. If I load the content in the management interface (where it's displayed with a plain text area), and save it, the error goes away, but usually comes back the next time it's edited with the general edit page (with the HTMLArea). What can be done about this error? Is there a way I can scrub the data when I save it to force it to be valid? I've thought about using content.replace('0xa0', ' ') since it seems to be always 0xa0 that's causing the problem (and consulting a Unicode table revealed that 0xa0 is some form of space character), but I don't know if this is a complete enough solution. Hello zopistas, I want to store a selection list in a database table with the following structure. user | form | value -----+------+------- | | | | | | | | If the user enters the form again the stored selection list, is loaded from the db again with an sql on user and form. Could I then use an "if value in resultSet.value:" to check, if the value was checked when the user stored the form? Zope not waiting for long running database stored procedures

Hi, We have Zope 2.7 running a web application which stores its data in an SQL Server 2000 database. As part of this application the user is meant to click on a button on a form which fires off a stored procedure in the database. This stored procedure can be quite long running (up to 5 minutes). The problem is that when the user clicks the button to submit the form Zope doesn't seem to wait around for the stored precedure. The page reloads after about 30 seconds or so and nothing is ever heard from the stored proc. (it doesn't seem to have run). However trying it on smaller data sets has been successful. The stored procedure runs successfuly when invoked manually in the SQL Server Query Analyser no matter how large or small the dataset is. My question is how do I make Zope wait around until the stored proc. has finished executing? (Its acceptable to have the user's browser appear to be loading for the full 5 minutes or so). Any ideas? can't pack ZODB anymore

When I try to pack I get: Error Value: /usr/local/Zope-2.7.0/var/Data.fs:31906881:time-stamp reduction: 03537a82059cf1cc <= 0355bcc95b5ace33 After running fsrecover.py the resulting Data.fs can't be mounted. I now get: ZODB.POSException.ConflictError: database conflict error Nothing seems wrong with my application, but my Data.fs is growing and growing and I don't know how to clean it up. SharedResource insight ?

Hi everyone. We are looking for some product to provide a cache shared between all the threads in Zope, and I think we could use the SharedResource (see http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope/SharedResource.html) module for such a purpose. This cache will mantain objects built from an SQL database. However, we have some doubt regarding Zope transactions and cache management. Indeed, the commit/rollback process is ok with the SQL db: if the sql transaction fails, the whole zope transaction fails and nothing is stored anywhere. However, how could we manage this with SharedResource? Consider that, at first, we are not going to put zope objects inside such a cache. How could we remove such objects at the abort of the transaction? Or should the objects be put in the cache only at the end of the transaction itself?
