Hi, I'm developing a web site, with the usual register and authentication options. I'm using the zope session and the postgresql database to store users. When a user log in, i set a value in the session that tells who is he. Maybe is a better way to do this, but i don't know, yet... newbie :-) The problem is, that for some reason, in internet explorer, sometimes happens to lose the session, it doesn't store the cookie. For example, a user log in with valid credentials, i set the session value, and behaves normally, but if then he goes to any other link, he is logged out, with no session. I have to close all the IE windows, and open again to log in. This case only happens in IE, and usual once a day. One more newbie question. I want to define some dictionary constants, the way i'm doing right now, is a python script, that returns the dictionary, is there a better way to do this? thanks, --Bruno

You can get what you want using the request API. The request object encapsulates all of the information regarding the current request in Zope. I have the CVS version of LocalFS. exUserFolder cookie and basic authentication

Hi, I have a Zope application which uses exUserFolder with cookie based authentication. Now I want to use XML-RPC calls. My XML-RPC client does not support cookies, but basic authentication. Any ideas how I can get exUserFolder to accept basic authentication and cookie authentication? Thanks Ulrich

You can also find it here: http://www.gzip.org/zlib/ Follow the install instructions in the top level readme - essential make, make install. Hi ! I want to install zope 2.7.0. But it needs py2.3.3. Ok, I compile it in Debian linux, and I try to configure zope 2.7. But it is say to me: the zlib module is cannot be found. 1. Where I found this module ? 2. Why don't exists this module in py2.3.3 (in 2.1 exists !) 3. How to I install it ? thanx for any help: FT

Z SQL methods, Zope's abstraction of SQL queries or commands, support caching of results. They use non-persistent attributes to maintain the cache. However, such attributes are thread local. Therefore, it is very difficult to flush the cache when the application knows about the invalidation of potentially cached information. 'CCSQLMethods' use a cache shared by all threads that can be managed by any of the threads. They provide for fine grained cache control. New in version 0.2: * "flushCache" now works reliably across independant ZEO client processes. I don't think this is a fair response. First, he doesn't need all of Apache's (web server) advanced capabilities but he may still need some of Zope's (content management/application) capabilities. As you correctly point out, they are different types of tools. As for running behind all web servers, I think you way oversimplify the situation. First, Zope 2.7.x stopped support for PCGI so you can't fallback on that. Second, I run two sites behind two somewhat exotic web servers (Roxen and iPlanet) and neither was easy to setup and I'm not happy with the current configurations. Getting information on specific details of interfacing Zope to these servers has been difficult and the integration was far from seamless.
