hello! everything was working fine until a couple of days ago and now.. Obviously I have no exact traceback of what was done on the machine, but I updated my gentoo box by emerging some apps (nothing apparently involving plone/zope/python/mysql...) :-( Now I really do not know where to bang my head..perhaps on re module?? thanks.. Iowa Python User's Group Meeting (November 3rd)

Hi, The next Iowa Python Users Group (AKA Pyowa) is nearly upon us. We will be meeting November 3rd, from 7-9 p.m. at the following location: Marshall County Sheriff's Office 2369 Jessup Ave Marshalltown, IA 50158 At this meeting, we will be having a Crash Course of sorts for all the new programmers in our group. As anyone who has ever taken a programming course know, it is impossible to teach everything in two hours, so we'll be focusing on tools that will allow our group to help themselves. In other words, we'll be focusing on source code analysis techniques like introspection and how to use IDLE effectively. There will also be a presentation on basic GUI design and also Django. We will have 8 laptops there to use for any new people, pre-loaded with Python 2.5.2 and any additional packages we need for our presentations. You are welcome to bring your own laptop if you want. Be sure to have 2.5 on yours as well as wxPython and the PyWin32 package (if you use Windows). We will have them on USB flash drives should you forget. Free pop and bottled water will be provided. Building a site tree with the ZCatalog

Hi there I use Zope 2.10.5 and I want to create a site tree using the ZCatalog instead of iterating recursive trough the entire object tree. I have the following site structure (all things are folders): - about --- company --- staff ----- homepages ------- phelps --- phonebook --- jobs - research --- ocean ----- atlantic ----- pacific --- lake --- river My ZCatalog contains these entries: - /research - /research/ocean - /research/ocean/pacific - /research/ocean/atlantic - /research/lake - /research/river - /about - /about/company - /about/staff - /about/staff/homepages - /about/staff/homepages/phelps - /about/staff/phonebook - /about/jobs - /about What I need is a list of these entries ordered according to the site structure. I would like to get this list: ['/about', '/about/company', '/about/staff', '/about/staff/homepages', '/about/staff/homepages/phelps', '/about/phonebook', '/about/jobs', '/research', '/research/ocean', '/research/ocean/atlantic', '/research/ocean/pacific', '/research/lake', '/research/river' ] My Zcatalog is configured as follows: Indexes: - path - position - title - id Metadata: - physical_path - title - id The index 'position' contains the a folder's position in it's parent folder. In my example the folder "phonebook" contains "3" for position because it is in the 3rd position inside it's parent folder ("about"). on-the-fly storage/mountpoint setup or reload configuration

Hello, I want to know if there's a way to reload configuration of a Zope2 zeo and instance without having to stop service. zopectl command has a reload argument but is not working for me at least from 2.7.8 to 2.11.1 versions. Theres a bug reported on Zope Collector. My goal is create a zeo filestorage without having to reload the zeo server (has other working instances). And also, reload the zope instance in order to mount the created filestorage in zeo via a mountpoint. Thanks in advance, Jordi

weird page template errors...

Hey All, Still getting the odd weird error following my move to Zope 2.11. The following are currently very confusing: Module Products.PageTemplates.ZopePageTemplate, line 330, in _exec <snip> Module zope.pagetemplate.pagetemplate, line 115, in pt_render - Warning: Macro expansion failed - Warning: zope.tal.taldefs.METALError: macro nesting limit (100) exceeded by u'template/macros/showbullet' Module zope.tal.talinterpreter, line 271, in __call__ <snip> Module zope.tal.talinterpreter, line 754, in do_insertStructure_tal UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xa3 in position 114: ordinal not in range(128) So for starters, what's with the 2 errors? For second, I don't get this error when I view the url the error is associated with, so I'm guessing this is specific to something the browser is sending. Hi, I have a plone2.5 web site in production on zope2.9 with more than 100 000 objects. I would like to analyse the content of the zodb to optimize the web site, find problems and better understand the ZODB. So i have started using space.py script, and got the results in the joined csv file. BTrees.XX classes are the most important results. So i would like to understand what are those BTrees stuffs: BTrees._IOBTree.IOBucket BTrees._IIBTree.IISet BTrees._OIBTree.OIBucket BTrees._OOBTree.OOBTree BTrees._OOBTree.OOBucket BTrees._IIBTree.IIBucket BTrees._IIBTree.IITreeSet BTrees._IOBTree.IOBTree BTrees._IIBTree.IIBTree BTrees._OIBTree.OIBTree according to me, btrees are folders that support a large numbers of entries. why they are totalize 50% of the database (585MO of 1.3Go Data.fs) I have a Members folder that contains about 8500 folders, got something like 8500 btrees for a simple mail product (one per members), got the PLoneGazette product that store 1 btree folder, but not enough to make 50% of the database, or i have missed sth. Zope failing to load causing 503 error

I migrated a server from one machine to another (using this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=35087) and while most everything transferred over correctly (some permission settings didnt) apache isnt %100 working. There are two virtual host files, the default, and the mysite.test.com. and Mysite is using zope for all the web stuff. At first, apache would only server the default virtualhost file, but I disabled it and now I get a 503 error.
