TALES Confusion
by Philip Kilner 09 Feb '04

09 Feb '04

Hi List, I'm obviously missing something fundamental about how TALES expressions work - I can't get the simplest thing that works fine in a ZPT to work in a Formulator TALES expression. Example: - - In my ZPT, I'm using "user/getUserName", which works perfectly. - I'd now like to migrate this functionality to a Formulator form, and it seems to me that the above is a path expression, so "path:user/getUserName" or - since the docs a say that a path expression is the default - the original "user/getUserName" (Which I had understood /was/ a TALES expression) should work. No such luck - I just get variations on the theme of "Key Error" and "global not defined". I have now descended into that special hell of trying all the combinations and permutations, and have run out of options. Could some kind soul give me a pointer - this just isn't possible by trial and error, and I've now run out of resources... -- Regards, PhilK Email: phil(a)xfr.co.uk / Voicemail & Facsimile: 07092 070518 “The basic tool for the manipulation of reality is the manipulation of words. restrictedTraverse doesn't give the good container
by Pascal Samuzeau 09 Feb '04

09 Feb '04

Hi, Today, I have this situation: Under my root Zope Site, I have this hierachy: - FolderA ---FolderB ----FolderC -----FolderC What is interesting is that a folder named "FolderC" appears under another folder named with the same name. Assuming the path is the good one (path=.../.../FolderB) I try : herenow = context.restrictedTraverse(path+'/FolderC') -> OK herenow = herenow.restrictedTraverse(path+'/FolderC') -> OK Now I just delete the last FolderC, I have: - FolderA ---FolderB ----FolderC I try : herenow = context.restrictedTraverse(path+'/FolderC') -> OK herenow = herenow.restrictedTraverse(path+'/FolderC') -> OK BUT here I'm just not where I think to be, just because of the acquisition !!! I have no time to have a look on this, but anyone have seen this problem and resolved it? Sincerily PS -------------------------------------------------- Oreka ! Nous sommes l'internet moins cher ! Strange For loop with ZCatalog
by Pascal Samuzeau 09 Feb '04

09 Feb '04

Hi, For some tests I have done : - Create about 5000 folders under the Root Zope Site - Inside those folders, I have created about 30 000 objects ( as document, just an id, title and a Type). - I've catalogued all inside a catalog named TheCatalog I have written just this function, in intend to test my CPU ( that why I've written it like this): allobject = context.TheCatalog.searchResults(Type='TypeTest') l=len(allobject) i = 0 #for i in range(len(allobject)): for object in allobject: #path = allobject[i].getPath() #course = allobject[i][0] path = allobject.getPath() course = allobject[0] thepath = string.split(path,'/') lepath = string.join(thepath[:-1],'/') lieu=context.restrictedTraverse(lepath) lieu.manage_delObjects(course) i+=1 return "Len: %s and Number parsed: %s" %(i,l) Phase A: I have 30 000 objects and the message following: Len: 30000 and Number parsed: 15001 In my catalog: 15000 object only were destroyed. !!! Phase 2: I de-comment my comment lines, but I've got the same message. I try to understand what it happens, but I can't. Anyone has a brillant idea? Cookies and dictionaries
by Kashif Jabbar 09 Feb '04

09 Feb '04

Hello, I am trying to store a dictionary in a cookie which I would like to retrieve later and use. A test python script is as follows: ########## request = container.REQUEST response = request.RESPONSE dic = {'filter':'yes'} response.setCookie('myCookie', dic) if request.has_key('myCookie'): mydic = request.myCookie print mydic['filter'] return printed ########### When the script is run I get an error: > *Error Type: TypeError* > *Error Value: sequence index must be integer* It seems that the dictionary is returned as a string. How can I cast this string to a dictionary type? Thanks. Kashif

SV: [Zope] installing CMF 2.4.1
by Børge Kjeldstad 09 Feb '04

09 Feb '04

Hi, and thanks for sharing the information! I wonder if the same problem also applies to windows XP as well. In XP, windows unpacks compressed files and folders if you double-click them.... Cheers : ) Børge > I have downloaded windows version of CMF 2.4.1 and used WinZip to > unpack it. On the install info page > > http://cmf.zope.org/download/CMF-1.4.2/INSTALL.txt > > I read the following: > > "Note for Windows users: if you are using WinZip to unpack the file, > be sure to disable the "TAR file smart CR/LF expansion" option (thanks > to Frank McGeough for tracking down this problem!)" > > Now I wonder what this actually means? It's a configuration in WinZip you should change before you unpack the archive. (Otherwise WinZip will translate all Unix linebreaks in the file to Windows linebreaks. Which is not recommended by the creator.) IMO, it's a configuration of WinZip that makes sense to disable. Regards, Johan Carlsson

Installing CMF
by John Poltorak 09 Feb '04

09 Feb '04

Which version of CMF should I install? And should I expect it to install correctly using the defaults? Zope has installed itself in /opt/zope. Does CMF install itself under Zope and will it be able to find the correct loation for itself? I don't suppose an RPM for RedHat v7.3 is available... -- John
