Hello Zopistas I have been running a Zope site for a couple of months using the ZopeHTTPServer. Unfortunately the server crashes occasionaly with no informative comments in the var/server.log. Has anyone else encountered a similar situation? I am waiting for the medusa integration. A bobo app I was running over medusa proved to be very reliable. A month ago I was contemplating implementing Userland's XML-RPC protocol in python, and yesterday I noticed Fredrik Lundh posted a module for it. It is a very simple RPC protocol different from bci (oops ZClient) and it might be useful to integrate it into the forthcoming medusa server. Skip who seems to have taken note of it already might provide some useful info. Pavlos

- ZMySQLDA, broken product

Hi all, After struggling with the NT version with IIS, I decided to bite the bullet and installed on a Linux box, it is now working fine 8^). - difference between AUTHENTICATED_USER and REMOTE_USER

Hi there - I was wondering, what's the difference between the DTML variables AUTHENTICATED_USER (defined by Zope) and REMOTE_USER (listed in the DTML guide as a CGI-defined request variable. If AUTHENTICATED_USER is defined in a given page, it seems like REMOTE_USER should also be defined - however, when I do something like    REQUEST contains a lot of stuff but not REMOTE_USER. Am I misunderstanding the meaning of this variable? (the reason I want to do this is, I want to use the name of the remote user as a parameter for a database access; there must be a good way to do this) --Brian

Send an email to zope-request(a)zope.org with no particular subject line... - Arbitrary length/named parameters

I have a dtml form with an arbitrary number of input fields with names which cannot be known in advance, calling a python method. (e.g serverName/cgi-bin/pythonMethod?name1=var1&name2=var2...) Python supports the sending of arbitrary, named variables to a function using functionName(**listOfKeywordValuePairs) but this will not work from Zope, I assume because the python syntax requires that the list must be sent to the function as the last parameter. Can anyone tell me whether this is the problem, and if so, how to specify that the parameters are to be sent last? The other possible solution is to send python a single sequence with a known name (I suppose defined in the dtml namespace) and send this to python containing keyword/value pairs. (e.g serverName/cgi-bin/pythonMethod?inputs = [name1:value1,..] Can anyone tell me how to instruct an html form to add its input elements to an array/sequence? Thanks, Sharon

There is a web archive of the list at http://www.egroups.com/list/zope, and egroups will let you subscribe in digest mode. I'd be interested to hear if it works for you. -Simon

- Uploading...

I tried the "upload" tag while adding a document -- that didn't work very well... All the text I had uploaded suddenly disappeared. Then I tried to browse for an added document -- that didn't work either. I got the text, but it wouldn't display when viewing the server as an anonymous user. Then I tried to shut down netscape an go there again, and suddenly I'm required to give a password... I shut down the server and started it again, but the same thing happened. (Maybe that has something to do with my proxying...)
