Hello! I'm a newcomer to the Zope's world. For now i'm just checking out some features and trying to build some programs on my own. After this blablabla here is main main concern for now: How can i define session properties or objects? What i whant to do is to be able to define any object (say, client id in a web store) as a session variable. The tricky thing is that i do not whant the content of this object to go back and forth between the browser and the server. I do have to put it in the server and access its contents in some session context. The client id in my case is very important and represents a security flaw if i allow to be altered during a browser session. This object is must be defined when the client logs in the application. If i did allowed it, any user could for example update or access some record in a SQL database that did not concerned him. Just because this client id is indeed the identification number of the user in my database model.

- Authorization aside...

... I still get problems with proxying... Whenever I have a relative link somewhere in my Zope pages, they always end up on the server machine, and not the proxy, because Zope insists (naturally) on using the server machine as base URL. Now... Is there any way I can change the base URL? (There should be...) Otherwise... Will there be in the future? And as for authorization... I have already tried that, but I get the error message as shown in the original post 8^( I'm now trying to get this thing to work on Linux with Apache and am having similar problems, oh god I wish I knew what I was doing 8^). - How to specify multiple sort columns when grouping with IN

I'm using a ZSQL method to Select rows from a database. Depending on user input, I may need to group by "apt_use, faa_cnty, faa_city, apt_name" (in that order). I want to use things like first-APT_USE, first-FAA_CNTY, etc. My database has individual indexes on all of the above fields, but there isn't a single index on all of these fields. I've been using  To group, do I need to create a new combined key in the database, or can I specify something like sort="apt_use;faa_cnty;faa_city" etc. (it doesn't work) but something like that, or will the use of the first- tags automatically cause grouping? - Using SQL Methods as containers

On 1/18, Amos wrote that the use of __bobo_traverse__ isn't necessary, and that "SQL Methods can be treated like containers .. In general you can reference database objects via URLs". Unfortunately, there was no more information than that. What I need to do looks like I'll need to override __bobo_traverse__ in a subclassed folder. have no idea how to do that exactly.. I have a folder hierarchy, like this: /Airports/PTD Where 'PTD' is a subfolder of Airports. If a person enters /Airports/ALB, and ALB does not exist as a subfolder of /Airports, what I want to happen is /Airports/AirportInfo?identifier=ALB So, /Airports/ALB could be either a true folder object under /Airports, and if it isn't there then the equivilant of /Airports/AirportInfo?identifier=ALB should be used instead. It'd be neat if a folder could have a "default document", that is, a document to be loaded if a requested folder object couldn't be found. My default document could then "import" the AirportInfo page appropriatly. Any suggestions? -- Also, regarding using #tree as a within-document expander/contracter, I've been thinking that what would probably be better is something called  that works like an , since that's more in line to what I need. The toggle would be "true" or "false" depending on the cookies, and the default state of the toggle (default false) I've looked at the TreeDisplay source .. hmm. Time to learn python.. - Problems with Z ODBC

i'm trying to connect Oracle Database with Oracle73 ver 2.5 ODBC driver through Zope; But it fails with a invalid connection string error. Is it possible Zope doesnt deal with userId and pwd request from Oracle ? Is it an other way to connect with Z (Aqueduct is not in add form) Thanks for your help Christian Martel

I checked the user info and even created a new user, everything looks OK to me. The user's created are in the top level userfolder and have a role of 'manager'. As I said in my original post, I couldn't get anyone to log in with the instructions in the docs. So I have activated basic-authentication, would this have anything to do with it? If I don't turn that on though then the 'superuser' can't login, 'rock-me-hardplace' 8^( Any other ideas.
