- Problem with pcgi on FreeBSD 2.2.8/Python 1.5.1

This is really two problems. I started with ZopHTTPServer (since I already had experience with BoboHTTPServer) and everything worked pretty well until I started adding users. For some reason users defined in lower folders could not authenticate. e.g., http://my.server:9673/folder1/folder2/manage would bring up a dialog with the "Main" realm, and would not recognize users defined in folder2's acl users folder. I thought maybe it was a problem with ZopeHTTPServer, so I tried getting pcgi running (which I've never used before.... so expect newbie problems....) I tried via my browser and got 'Internal Error'... looking at httpd-error.log I see 'malformed output'... so I tried running Zope.cgi from the command line.... I get: > Zope.cgi Bad system call (core dumped) ouch! So... I fired up gdb on pcgi-wrapper and found that it was dying in the chunk of code where it tries to start the process for the first time.... /* // pcgiStartProc: manages starting a pcgi resource. */ #ifdef UNIX int pcgiStartProc(pcgiResource *r) { [ lots of code deleted.....] /* Make sure another wrapper isn't already doing a restart */ if ((r->lock=semget(101, 1, 0700 | IPC_CREAT | IPC_EXCL)) == -1) <--- dies here.... [ more code deleted .....] } ... something line SIGSYS, bad system call. The man page doesn't say anything about IPC_CREAT or IPC_EXCL, but the compiler didn't complain so I'm guessing they are OK. Is it possible that 101 is not an allowed key? Is it possile that semaphores don't work on FreeBSD? Is anyone else running FreeBSD. Any hints on debugging this? thanks, -steve

I downloaded an NT installation of Zope (zope-1_9_0-win32-x86.exe). Whel I execute the downloaded file such information appears (see subject). I would appreciate any help.

I've just started with Zope and have not programmed anything in Python (yet). I'm just exploring/learning DTML but am a bit frustrated by the lack of good tutorial (for dummy's like me). In one of the postings to this maillinglist I saw mentioned the use of the following tag , and looked in the source code for StructuredText.py. I think I understand how to format plain text as structured text, but don't understand how to insert it in a document. Is the only possibility the use of forms ? Andrew's discussion about multiple databases got me thinking again about XML import/export capability for the Zope database. I think an object database for Python has broader implications for Python programmers that extend beyond using it with Zope. And having an ability to analyze a database independent of the application, independent of transactions, etc., makes XML import/export a compelling feature. A few questions/conjectures. - Is there any kind of baseline DTD that will be designed for simple pickles? If so, will the Zope Object Database DTD be an extension of the same? - Not knowing anything about the ZODB release schedule, I think that simply having a release that supports XML export capability alone would be worth having (nudge, nudge) if XML import requires more time to implement. - Is a staged build of a Zope system using XML import capability a likely scenario? By this I don't mean is it *possible*, I'm asking if it will probably someday be considered a routine way to accomplish this kind of task. - Are we likely to see the Zope Object Database used independently of Zope, i.e. where an object database may be desired (pickles + concurrent transactions) ? I'm not aware of anyone who used BoboPOS in this manner. - What's the preferred acronym for the Zope Object Database? ZODB? Or is it preferred not to use an acronym? Could someone please advise on what to do about corrupted data, and what might have caused it? Also, where is this "/home/brian/temp" stuff coming from? There's no such directory on my system. I work for a small web site engineering and management company, Kavi Corp. Re example "poll" product: I want to insert a tag in a new page which will iterate through a number of created "polls"(id's are p1,p2,p3...), all of which exist in one folder and which will dynamically create a list of links. After reading the DTML User Guide I'm still unclear. The "in" tag seems the correct choice. However I can't seem to arrive at the correct syntax. Help appreciated. Also the "Company example in the "investors corner" of the Zope site gives this: <P>Please visit the following departments:   <A HREF=""></A>   which successfully, gives a neat list of links to subfolders which begin with "dept_" I wondered what the id[0:5] means? Can I do this without copying the above definition into every index_html at level 2? (I was hoping they could get it from the main directory somehow... - fsimport sets mime type for .jpg, .gifs incorrectly

Subject says it all. I used fsimport to load an existing web site into a new Zope "site". The .htm documents were correctly loaded, but all images got flagged with "application/octet-...". I saw this also mentioned in the email archive, but no resolution on that thread yet. Note that this is an entirely unmodified fsimport. I was wondering if it's an fsimport issue, or a Zope issue. Anyone else seen this?
