- ZSolidDA name error?

Howdy - I've just installed ZSolidDA with no problems. I added a connection object to a folder and connected it to the db with no problems. Then I added an SQL Method to test out the connection. When I test the connection I get the following: ------------------------------------------ Z SQL Method at /zopeland / user_count Error, exceptions.NameError: error SQL used: select count(*) from ...<snipped> ------------------------------------------ I'm not sure how to get more info on the error. - Zope 1.9 NT/IIS 4.0 Problems

I've just installed Zope 1.9 on my NT 4.0 SP3 box and I can't get it running with IIS 4.0 (using serve.py with ZopeHTTPpublisher it works fine). When I try to access the management screen (or any other screen) via http://my-domain/cgi-koeln/koelnzope.exe/manage (this is the valid path - 'koelnzope' is the installation name) I get the "Sorry, an error occurred" message with the traceback  The 'koelnzope' system service is running, and the directory settings for the cgi-koeln directory are ok AFAI can say. Any ideas?

- Virtual Hosts

Does Zope support virtual hosts? If so, which way works best? I tried faking the root via the CGI call (via Zope.cgi/MYHOST/$1) which would work except Zope insists on putting a "base href" header in the output file (for what reason I cannot say) and this tends to hose it up. Instead of picking the ODBC connection from the select list, type in a connection string in the box below it. Connection string sytax is pretty baroque. - Convert database date to Zope date

How does one convert a database date value to a Zope date value. I'm trying to use a date value retrieved from a query of a MySQL database in the var command with the date formatting options. If I just use the raw value from the query, I get an error. Is there a way to convert this to a Zope date data type? There may be multiple variations of this message posted to the list. It looks like the post form at egroups.com isn't working correctly. Sorry if there is any duplication. Michael Grinder

Are there any adapters for oracle8? I read that the DCOracle adapter is going open source, but this hasnt been reflected on the digicool site yet. If I wanted to hook zope to oracle8, how would I go about doing it? Or should I wait a bit? thanks jeff

- Building Zope source dist on Win32

I have significantly hacked up David Ascher's compile.py script to be able to generate nmake compatible makefiles from Setup or Setup.in files. So why am I telling all the Zopsters about it? Well becuase I have also modified the build scripts in the Zope 1.9.0 source distribution to use this compile.py script giving the ability to build everything for Win32 with just the w_pcgi.py or wo_pcgi.py scripts just like on unix. The compile.py and modified Zope files are attached. Just unzip in the top Zope source directory and you're set to run w_pcgi.py. This assumes that python 1.5.1 is installed, VC50 or VC60 is installed, python.exe, nmake.exe, cl.exe, and link.exe are accessible on the PATH, and that appropriate environment variables are set for the tools. -- Robin Dunn robin(a)AllDunn.com http://AllDunn.com/robin/ Try http://AllDunn.com/laughworks/ for a good laugh.

- PCGI with Xitami

One little gotcha about using PCGI with the Xitami webserver (http://www.imatix.com) that should probably be added to the WEBSERVERS.TXT document is that the "Full Environment" checkbox needs to be turned on. Once I figured this out then I was able to run Zope and etc. via pcgi on my NT box. - ANNOUNCE: ZPublisher component release

A long time ago we said that we'd offer Zope components separately, now we're finally getting around to fulfilling this promise. http://www.zope.org/Download/Components Right now we have ZPublisher available, and I'll probably get ZTemplates up there pretty soon. The reason for these component releases is to make life easier on people who are interested in some Zope components but don't want to bother to download the entire Zope release. The ZPublisher component includes everything you need to publish Python objects on the web including: ZPublisher -- This package includes the Zope ORB, Zope Debugger, and Zope RPC client. This package allows you to publish objects with Zope. PCGI -- This optional component provides publishing services and long running process support to the Zope ORB that work with any web server that supports CGI. ZopeHTTPServer -- This optional package is a simple web server which can publish a module with Zope. CGI -- This optional component includes a simple Zope CGI publisher which allows you to publish objects using a CGI script. The only thing new is the CGI publisher which is the long awaited cgi-module-publisher replacement. It's pretty simple and it doesn't use symbolic links. I'm calling this release 3.0.0b1 because I am taking up numbering where Bobo releases left off. Enjoy. -Amos P.S.
