It sounds like you need the  tag... Example (feed a SELECT from SQL, but it's the same thing...): <SELECT name="category">  <dtml-if "category == link_cat_id"> <OPTION SELECTED VALUE='<dtml-var link_cat_id null="">'><dtml-var cat_text null=""> <dtml-else> <OPTION VALUE='<dtml-var link_cat_id null="">'><dtml-var cat_text null=""> </dtml-if>  The example is simplified slightly. Category is SQL method, cat_text is coloumn from the query, containing a description and link_cat_id is the "key" from th query. As I understand it, a ZSQL method just returns a 'sequence-object', thus it can be just about anything. I think this is quite simple: 2 x SELECT tags, 2 x in tags and 3 x if tags, equals 7 lines to handle the SELECT and the SELECTED state of an OPTION. > There has to be an easier way. Browser Sticky Fingers

I'm pulling my hair out here over what is probably a simple HTTP issue. I have a Zope method that stuffs a new image into a Zope Image object, based on the content of the page where the method is called. The problem is that the image is not updated until I exit the browser, and then flush all of it's caches manually. I've turned off any proxy support, configured Netscape 4.x with the option "Document in cache is compared to document on web site [always]", and even run the 'curl' utility outside of the browser that prints the HTTP headers. The headers show that the modified date is changing, the size is changing (different image sizes), and that there is no expire header. I thought maybe I needed one but noticed that no where in the Zope source code do they use one, and when one of their images is re-uploaded via the /manage_upload, it displays correctly. Am I missing something simple? -Jeff Rush

Logging Out

Hello, We are trying to figure out how to allow people to log out from our Zope site. The  tag brings up a login box, but if the user clicks cancel it does not clear out the authenticated user (if the user clicks "OK" and then "Cancel" it works). Redirecting to a URL such as http://anonymous:nopassword@www.server.com does not work for clearing the logged in user either. In the mailing list archives I read a lot about the userDB and it sounds like it might work for what we need, but I can't find it anywhere on the zope.org site? Does somebody know where I can find the userDb? Or is there some other way to log users out? Thanks, --James Punteney

Bug in nested ZClasses

There seems to be a bug in nested ZCLasses. I think the action property for factories of nested ZClasses is being set incorrectly. Simple recipe: Create a new product ("FooProd") Create a ZCLass that is an Object Manager, let's say "Foo". In that ZClass, create another ZClass ("Bar"). In the Subobjects menu of FooClass, add File and Foo, just for comparison's sake. Create an instance of Foo somewhere. On it's contents page, trying to add a Bar is totally broken. Learning Zope

I'm trying to come up to speed on Zope and one idea I have is to take a small website that I worked on and put it into Zope. Does anybody have any tips on a good way to "zopeify" an existing website? What I would like to be able to do is get the site working from within Zope and then spend some time refactoring the site to take better take advantage of Zope's capabilities. Unfortunately I don't have a good model on how to reorganize things to better fit the Zope environment. I would be glad to hear any tips or ideas on good ways to organize a Zope web site. Thanks. Newbie Acquisition Question

I've been playing with Zope for a couple of days. Coming from a Smalltalk background, many of the concepts employed by Zope are very familiar. However, I seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding about how acquisition works. As an experiment, I created a Folder object called "Testing". I defined an index_html document with the following DTML code: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-var folderName> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> I also defined a DTML method in Testing called "folderName" which contained the following: Testing I viewed the page in a browser via http://localhost:8080/Testing and sure enough I saw a page with the phrase "Testing" correctly displayed. I then created a Folder within Testing called "SubTest". In SubTest, I defined one DTML method called "folderName" Inside of this method I put the contents: SubTest I then displayed the page via http://localhost:8080/Testing/SubTest and was confused when the screen still displayed the phrase "Testing" instead of "SubTest". It's probably my Smalltalk bias, but I was expecting that the system would look up the tree from SubTest until it found an index_html that it could display. Having found that, it would see that it needed to execute the method "folderName". Since the object being displayed was SubTest, I assumed that it would try to find the "folderName" method starting in SubTest. Having found it, it would use the result from that method for display. However, this is not what happened. Where did I go wrong? I was under the impression that I could factor common behavior up the tree and only implement distinct behavior at lower levels. Did I just do something wrong? Is there a way to accomplish what I want to accomplish? Thanks. James W. Programmatically adding and deleting indexes in a ZCatalog

Some questions for experienced zopers

I've got two pressing questions that I can't seem to find answers to on zope.org: 1. What is the relationship that dtml has (if any) to javascript? Specifically, I want to do onmouseover swapping of a .gif. It seems to me that it would be simple with dtml, something like <dtml-if img1 mouseover == true> <dtml-var img2> <dtml-else> <dtml-var img1> </dtml-if> but I can't find a reference to any such functions. Otherwise, what is the best way to integrate js and dtml? (Sorry for any syntax errors, I'm just starting out) 2. I would like to aggregate my images into a common folder off the zope root, something like this: (indenting to show directory structure) / Mysite [_] control_panel [_] acl_users [_] images * img1 * img2 * img3 % index_html % standard_error_message % standard_html_header % standard_html_footer and then call them as <dtml-var images/img1> in index_html. Even though the documentation suggests that this is possible, doing so always returns an error for me. any help? Thanks, VanL
