U.S. SBA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) FY 2000 solicitation... partnering opportunities

To the General ZOPE and ZCommerce community members, Last week, the U.S. SBA announced the topics for its fiscal year 2000 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. Of particular interest to the ZCommerce and general ZOPE lists are a number of topics in Section 8.0, Technology Topics (http://ois.nist.gov/sbir/sect8_fy00.htm) These topics include, but are not limited to: 8.01 Adaptive Learning Systems 8.13 Infrastructure for Distributed Electronic Commerce, including subtopics: 8.13.2T Subtopic: Secure Agent Toolkit 8.13.8T Subtopic: Role-Based Authorization Policy Toolkit 8.13.9T Subtopic: XML for Workflow Management Phase 1 grants are up to $75,000 for 'proof of concept' and feasibility studies to prepare small businesses for going after Phase 2 grants which are up to $300,000 for applied research and development addressing the SBA's and Commerce Department's research agendas. The ZClass/Folder can have a simple lines property, which serves as a sheet where the order of objects can be edited. Than you can include a DTML method, which can edit this particular property. Look at the managment screen of the views of a ZClass, there is a nice method to change the order, by marking one and making this the first. Just for an example. Probelms using a ZClass subclassed from an image

Hi, I've been trying to set up a ZClass that subclasses the Zope Image class. So far, no joy. I modified my ZClass's addForm method, the method that generates constructor input pages, to include chunks of dtml code that I swiped from the generic Image addForm method. My problem is that when I create new objects from this class, it doesn't actually include the contents of the image I uploaded at object creation time. Instead, the object's data attribute is simply the local file name of the image file I tried to upload. The funny thing is that it works fine if I upload an image from the Upload tab after creating the object. Any ideas? Proxy roles are very useful when you need to provide someone with a very specific capability (like being able to change properties of a certain kind of object, but only through an interface you provide) and not a more general capability (like Manage Properties). Just make sure that access to your method is restricted the way you want, and that the method itself couldn't be used for purposes other than what you intend. Kevin

The day has come, and I am beginning to code in Zope. The first thing I need to create is a ZClass, inheriting from Folder, where the order of the objects it contains is persistent, and can be changed by the users. That is, I want the user to be able to move the fifth object to be third in the list. subuser can't manage_changeProperties?

Zopistas, I've got a product built more or less from the instructions in ZCMG. I (the root user) can run the product fine: it creates the document I want. I want these documents to be created in a certain folder, so I set up a user in that folder. I give it full management permissions, which is every permission including Manage properties. I can access the creation form, but when I submit the information, it tells me that I don't have permission to manage_changeProperties. ZClasses and properties

Hi, I think there is something I don't understsand about ZClasses or maybe the permissions used in ZClasses. I created a Zclass in which I have a propertie sheet with title, description... But what I want is to be able to store in each instance of that class some objects (photos). So I created in the Class/propertysheets/methods a folder called 'Photo'. This doesn't work because it seems that all what is put in the propertysheets/methods are Class "methods" so when I add something there, all the instances are updated with the new object. Do I have to do this programatically or is there a means to use the management screen. I find the Zope collector very annoying in this respect. If DC wants help fixing the bugs, people have to know what the bugs are. This field is important for closed projects. </rant> Workflow can be as simple or as complex as you want it. It should probably include a change history for at least the Status section. Attachments screen shots, test cases, etc. Related Documents Other change requests requirements docs design docs test plans/test cases version control info (e.g. when was the fix checked in?, what checkin broke it?) Discussion Confera works nicely for the Discussion section: simply create a Topic within the document. An email gateway would also be nice. The "Product Tree" has meta data about where things go. It knows about what products/modules/sub-modules are being developed and who is responsible for them (manager, developer, reviewer, QA, ...) -------------------------- I have seen at least three people mention this application on the list.
