Yep. You have to be wary of it if you use it in an expression (which could confuse Python), or as Michel pointed out, if you use XML-RPC. zClasses, newbie

After my question about how to store objects, I blundered across zclasses, and got some help that pointed me in that direction through email, as well. I've been learning a lot. Unfortunately, I'm still having trouble. I've created a QuoteProduct/QuoteClass combination with person and quotetext as the properties in the property sheet. I've directed the view to direct toward my property sheet. I'm thinking the key is in the traceback "File <string>, line 0, in ?" above. Of course, I'm only guessing.

HELP: Z2.log file analysis

Hello Zopists (or Zopers?), I was looking at the Z2.log tonight and decided to use analog to analyze it. >From what I can see, it looks like the logger appends a port number (?) after each ip address or the domain name. It looks like this: 192.168.0.83:1641 - - [09/Sep/1999:04:19:33 -0400] "GET / HTTP/1.1" 200 1352 where 1641 is a port number? My question is: how can I prevent z2 from appending that number? I've checked the analog document and I can't find if it can get around it bynot lumping the number with the rest of the ip or domain name. Can I change something in medusa? Or do I use sed to rip them out? I look forward to your suggestions.... Thanks, -james-

html method called from html document?

Hello All, Is this bug or feature- when i call html method from html document, html method is treated as html document. For example I have an html method called "standard_html_header" in which I have <dtml-tree... tag but it shows up only when called from index_html method, but if my index_html is Document tree does not show up :(. And one more thing- when I made some script error in index_html Document, my header rendered fine, only the rest of the document was fuc*ed up, when i fixed my error, the whole thing started treating "standard_html_header" as a Document again :( Best regards, Ainis mailto:ainis@mindless.com

PATH_INFO und regex

Michel and others, I'm sort of confused... I've been mucking around with IMAPAdapter for a while now (against an Exchange 5.5 server), and I can't seem to even get it to run the simple test code distributed in readme.txt. Here's what I've done: created a folder off the root called imaptest created user defined roles in the root folder for IMAPUser and NotMail, giving them all permissions to that folder in the security tab. Within the imaptest folder I gave all permissions to the same roles for that folder. I then added the imapadapter and the index_html (with the sample code) into imaptest . Instead of it working, it denies all access to the directory, whichever username I use. I know IMAP is working because I tried it against a client (Outlook Express) from the same box. THere are no users defined at the root ( in acl_users ). Any help?

Hi All, Just learned about Zope today; we're attempted to install it on a Linux test box here. Ours is mostly a ColdFusion shop right now, but the devshed intro article on Zope looked very promising. I'm curious if anyone has a comparison table of Z vs. CF... I'll be especially interested to know how it handles http file uploads, file management, mail management, <cfhttp>-like functions, and session management. I'd also like to stick with CFStudio as my main development environment... does regular ftp work with DTML documents? editing language property on root folder ?

Seems that we can't add a property named 'language' to the root folder - I guess zope uses that internally. It's OK to place it on any other folder. This is a bit of a shame b/c I would have like to just make language='cn' on the root folder and be done with it. Why not have the language property editable on the root folder just like the title is ? Would maybe help those of us doing multilingual sites. Or am I being dense again ? chas

Hi, I had originally been thinking that ZClasses would allow you to override ZClass-level methods, etc. with methods at the instance level. But, this is not the case... and you're also not able to edit the methods for each instance, as you have found. I have a solution to this, and I should probably write it up in a HOWTO because this has come up a couple of times. If you download KM|Net News, you can see my solution pretty easily. In the KMArticleStore ZClass, there are methods labelled "default_article_header" and "default_article_footer", etc. The KMArticleStore_add method will automatically take the contents of those methods and copy them to the new instance. I have also added a view called "Defaults" which allows the user to easily restore the defaults. One side note: make sure you map the Access Contents Information property on your "default" methods. I'll try to write a complete howto about this in my copious free time. Hopefully, the paragraph above will point you where you want to go...
