Hi, Howto compare two dates in DTML. For example, howto to post an image *if* the current date (ZopeTime) is inferior to my date being in this format year/month/day *elsif* do not post the image ? There is a somewhat hacky but effective workaround in the latest Zope 2.1.0 beta - it _emulates_ locking support enough to allow you work with documents in Zope from Office 2K (note that it does not provide DAV level 2 compliant locking support though). With Bobo I never had this problem. Why Zope doesn't publish the P's method? Thanks, David

ZDiscussion replyForm and postForm methods use the following code to get the authors name: <dtml-if "AUTHENTICATED_USER == 'Anonymous'"> <input type=hidden name="author" value="<dtml-var "AUTHENTICATED_USER.getName()"> <td><dtml-var "AUTHENTICATED_USER.getName()"></td> <dtml-else> <td><input name="author" size=40></td> </dtml-if> Shouldn´t the first line look like <dtml-if "AUTHENTICATED_USER != 'Anonymous'">? ^^^^ Asking only anonymous user for their name? Zope knows the names of the other users. Second question: Has AUTHENTICATED_USER a method getName() ? It raises an attribute error. Replacing getName with getUserName works fine. How do I learn about attributes anyway? <dtml-var "AUTHENTICATED_USER.__dict__"> doesn´t work :-(. Martin Holz

avoiding zope error when auth fails

when using the acl-users way of authenticating a user i have one problem: whenever the user presses the 'cancel'-button he gets a zope error thats not using the standard_error_message-method. this is not only rather ugly behaviour, it actually pisses off one of our customers in a rather dramatic way. so, is there a way to get rid of this kind of error message WITHOUT changing the zope-source? there's a comment in the source which suggests that there may be some way to use standard_error_message - but obviously it's not implemented.(yet?) another way to work around the problem would be to use some kind of html-form to input the user name and password and validate it 'on foot' on the consecuting page, but i have the strong feeling that this will not work as it is server-side and the client is not notified - but this may be a wrong conclusion. does anyone know a way to get a 'nice' login page and avoid the brainbogglingly ugly error message? (our customer actually thinks that the message means our code is bugged. this annoys me even more than him...) i would be very grateful if the answer (if someone knows it) could be sent to me directly as i often don't have the time to actually read the mailings on this list. well, i try to, but the days has only 24 hours. Hello, Please forgive me. This is the second time I post this message. But I'm sure one among you build trees from sqlmethod queries... Please note also that I'm not currently on the list. It would be glad if you could forward your answer to minf7(a)educ.univ-reunion.fr as well Also, I made some enhancements to the Mime tag. I will post it as soon as possible. here follows the original message ----------------------8<--------------------------- I come back from a long travel in outer space... :-) I lost all my archives, and searching eegroup is a pain (still looking after 1 hour...) I remember one of you explaining how to get SQL Method result from a tree tag. At the time this clever guy did this, zope was not even 2.0.0alpha 1, so he couldn't add a howto page to www.zope.org Could someone explain how to do this. Design Issues

I'm relatively new to Zope. I've written a couple of SQLMethods using ZODB connections. Currently I've put them in the root directory of Zope. I have questions regarding possibilities and design issues:- 1. Is it possible to create an SQLMethod in a folder if the connection object exists in another folder (the connection object is not available here even through acquisition) ? Experienced zopers : would you do this? 2. Would it be a good idea to define all SQLMethods and corresponding connections at the root ? Then they can be used anywhere. 3. What are the folders under Control Panel:Products etc for ? Would I ever need to 'add' any objects under those folders ? Thanks, Shalabh
