BUG? ftp download of GIF

The problem: Trying to ftp download one GIF image in a zope folder failed, the server give the following error message: ------ 1999-12-24T03:14:10 ERROR(200) ZServer exception in trigger thunk: (exceptions.AttributeError:'None' object has no attribute '_producers' [/home/maldf/Zope-2.1.0b2-src/ZServer/medusa/select_trigger.py|handle_read|82] [/home/maldf/Zope-2.1.0b2-src/ZServer/FTPResponse.py|apply|145] [/home/maldf/Zope-2.1.0b2-src/ZServer/FTPServer.py|retr_completion|360]) But many other GIF images never cause this problem in ftp download. The offending image is at http://www.zope.org/Members/LiDongfeng/test.gif The ftp client used is WS FTP LE version 5.06 on windows. The Zope server is version 2.1.0b2 on solaris 2.6. Anyone know the cause of this problem? PS: I have found the offending code in ZServer/FTPServer.py|retr_completion|360, it is: if not response._wrote: self.client_dc.push(response.body) else: for producer in response.stdout._producers: self.client_dc.push_with_producer(producer) obviously the response.stdout is None. Why this occured?

AOL Specific Browser Error

I have a peculiar error. If I access my site through Opera, Lynx, Netscape, and IE 5.0 all is well. However, if I use AOL's browser (5.0 under win98) I get an error. The site is organized as frames. Even weirder - if I bypass the errant frame and go straight to the directory that gives the traceback, everything appears. The frame that causes the error is a Squishdot site but I'm pretty sure squishdot is not the culprit. Other windows in the frame all appear properly in AOL but they have very minimal dtml. I'm running RH6.1 and Zope 2.1.1. Does anyone know why AOL only would have this problem? I included the traceback below. Linux/Redhat advice : RPMs vs Src for Zope development ?

I find myself finally having to embrace that OS which is fast becoming the Microsoft of the linux world - Redhat. Coming from a FreeBSD background, I trust it won't be too much of a culture shock but have one question in particular : On FreeBSD, we have 'packages' and 'ports' which make installation of software quite easy. I notice that linux has its RPM's which are even more extensive - going down to the Zope product level in some cases. However, despite having these handy packages on FreeBSD, I've personally found it better to compile everything from src and ignore the packages/ports ... for example, I often need to recompile Python to include the MySQLmodule... but generally, sooner or later I need something adding or patching that was not in the package/port. So, my question is : If you were installing Python 1.5.2, Zope 2.1.1 and all the products/adapters to work with Postgres, MySQL, Oracle on Redhat 6.0, would you use the RPMs or go with src ? I know it may sound like a pedantic question - and that it perhaps shouldn't matter which you use - but from recent posts, it appears that sometimes RPMs work much better than src and sometimes they don't. And I'm just hoping I can avoid a few frustrating hours, Apologies if this question should be filed under "clueless". chas

Setting dtml-vars from within external methods [Q]

Hello... I have a DTML Document that contains the following piece of code: <dtml-in external(REQUEST)> <dtml-var var_name> </dtml-in> And I have an External Method... called external ... How do I set the dtml-var "var_name" from within my external method? I mean, I have done: listResult = [] for i in range(1, 5): listResult.append(...) return listResult Where "..." is what I need to do and I cannot figure out how to set the var_name. I tryied "REQUEST.set('var_name', i)" but it returns, as it is supposed to, 4 times "4" (the last value set by the REQUEST). Anyone? Namespace ?

Hi people, I am new to zope and am having a few problems in regard to namespaces (I think). I am using code similar to the following but I get, Error Type: KeyError, Error value: unique. I have created a dtml method with the following code... <dtml-let unique="whrandom.random()"> <dtml-in InsertIntoDB> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> I have a mysql database and the insert statement InsertIntoDB as follows, insert into randoms ( <dtml-var unique> ) I have had a look at the howtos but it still makes it as clear as mud.

Hi, That seems to me clearer now with your explanation and this external method. It is a good idea to begin in external method specially for debugging. DTML is too powerfull and sometimes complex :) Thank a lot Martin. Yepp, it works. The solution was to just put the name "somewhat" into the body/background tag. Example: The picture is a file in /Images/ with name picture. <body background="/Images/picture"> This works like a charm. Thanks to all and a happy Xmas too. Roland Schopp Arachno GmbH
