return decimal values from ZSQL (Oracle) [Q]

Hello... I have an Oracle table where a field is a NUMBER .... I do a SELECT field FROM oratable and I get "2.29" ... (without quotes ;-) But when doing the same SELECT from a ZSQL I get "2" ... no decimals. I don't know if it's an Oracle specific problem... Anyone has a clue? I tryied using the TO_NUMBER(field, '9999.99') function but it returns "2"... TIA /B Bruno Mattarollo <brunomadv(a)ciudad.com.ar>

what am I doing wrong?

I have a form that looks exactly like the manage_addImageForm, except that it has a hidden field, goto, which contains a url. The form posts to a method called myCreateImage myCreateImage looks like this <dtml-call "manage_addImage"> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(goto)"> Everything executes error free, but no new image gets created. The redirection does occur, however. I purposely have no try/catch clause, hoping to spot an exception. no luck. any ideas? I am logged in as superuser, so it is not a permissions problem. I had similar problems trying to create an instance of a ZClass product, only I couldn't even figure out how to call the manage_addProduct function. I wound up solving the problem with some unbelievably ugly code in the myClass_add function which detects how it is being added and redirects users to different places, etc. It was made particularly hard because I wanted to be able to create an instance of another ZClass inside my newly created ZClass some of the time. I finally did it with a very ugly redirect call. There must be another way!!! --sam

problem moving ZODB to new Z

Hi Zopesters, We have just migrated from a machine running Zope with the ZServer to a different machine running Zope with an Apache web server. But we have a problem, namely, after copying over the Data.fs ZODB to the new site, Zope cannot find a needed (but installed) product (Navigator). This product definitely exists: /Zope-2.1.0-src/lib/python/Products/Navigator so why is Zope not seeing it? i >From the manager view of the ZODB: Product at /optics / Control_Panel / Products / Navigator There are currently no items in Installed product Navigator (Navigator Product, Version 1.02) Any help is much appreciated as my site is off-line until I can fix this problem. We went live with some revisions to our Web site last Saturday, and some of them will be of interest to Zopeheads. The most significant new feature is a new version of the Sequence Builder, which is at: http://www.mems-exchange.org/z/process/builder/ Our site caters to designers of microfabricated devices, and we want users to assemble sequences of process steps, which they then submit to us for manufacturing. The Sequence Builder is a Web-based application for assembling sequences, sitting on top of our process database, which is a set of Python classes, and your sequence is saved using our Java database representation classes; Zope talks to Java servlets using XML-RPC. This makes saving/loading the ugliest code, because there's DTML code + Python code + the XML-RPC parameters + Java code involved. Doing a Web-based user interface for this sort of thing is hard, and our UI is still clunky in various ways; suggestions for improvements are welcome. I don't know of any other sites that tackle anything this complicated, because this is harder than "I want X copies of book Y"; instead, you're assembling a recipe where order matters. If anyone knows of sites that do something similar, we'd love to hear about them; maybe we can borrow some UI ideas from them. Anyway, feel free to play with the sequence builder. Getting a Web site registration is free, though you can't actually manufacture anything without signing an agreement and undergoing a credit check, but you can make sequences, save them, and load them up again; you don't have to worry about getting a bill for $5000 in the mail. Hi Jim, your mission if you accept it... :-) Right now we are integrating the ZRTChat with other classes to achieve our specific goals, and had not already worked a lot on the ZRTChat, but as soon as we make new features we post on the list. One feature we would like is to force user authentication, to avoid duplicate nicks logged at the same time, and with a password to avoid another person to use your nickname and then being able to chat on your behalf. Is there anything that explains how to convert a Zope 1.x DA to a Zope 2.x DA? DC's customers may have abandoned Solid, but my company hasn't, and I would like to be able to switch to Zope 2. Thanks. joe

Can't Start ZOPE on Linux box.

Hello! I'm having this problem <again!>. ZOPE refuse to start properly. During bootup i can see that it is initiated. But a "ps -A" reveal that there is no python process. The last time i had this problem is because i screw up my 'lo'. But it was rectified later and it work flawlessly on that machine ever since. Now on this new box, everything is in order. Localhost works nicely as pinging it brings back results and 'ifconfig lo' reveals that everything is in order. But zope just wont start. I tried restarting it but it will die again later. I'm totally stumped as how to fix this. Help!
