ZSQL optional variables?

Hello, in ZSQL I would like to make some test optional. Here a small example: SELECT * DEMO <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-if var1> <dtml-sqltest var1 type=int> </dtml-if> <dtml-and> <dtml-if var2> <dtml-sqltest var2 type=string optional> </dtml-if> </dtml-sqlgroup> No I want it to take var1 and var2 from the REQUEST or from arguments specified at dtml-call or no argument at all. 1. my.url?var1=5 2. <dtml-in "zsql_method(var1=5)"> 3. <dtml-in zsql_method> I tried to define arguments in the ZSQL form, but then I need to gibe var1/var2 as arguments (but I want them to be optional). When I tried to give default values like (var1:int=0) the <dtm-if var1> always eval to true so that the SQL statement tests for var1. How can I make arguments to ZSQL fully optional? Hi everyone, I've installed Edd's SiteSummary product and have it displaying headlines. Trouble accessing posted variables outside namespace

Hey Zope fans, I'm having trouble with variables. My user has just submitted a registration form and I want to do the following things: 1. Check to see if the posted email address exists in my users table | |--If so, send a email message reminding them of their username & passwd | |--If not, insert the posted variables into the dB & send welcome email I'm having trouble accessing variables I can use outside of the <dtml-in ...></dtml-in> namespace. IS there a way to create a global array, stuff all the form info into it on hitting the page and then manipulate items within the array with methods? That would be way cool. Philosophical question - Zope Objects vs Entities in a RDBMS

Okay so I'm getting into this whole Zope deal, and from what I have seen so far it looks pretty darned good, I like the OO concept, but with it it poses a few design issues for websites / web applications Traditionally all data is stored in some form of relational database, and then the scripts pull it back out again. Now we all know and hate relational databases (well I do anyway as I'm a child of the information age - learning in OO concepts and then having to go back to a relational database) but they are remarkably good for what they do - storing large amounts of data and allowing you to retrieve it in a quick and relatively painless manner, if you get your head around SQL. Now Zope comes along with the ability to create and persist objects without the need for a relational database. Wooohooo... all my prayers have been answered, or have they?. Q1. Has anyone tried to build webapplications with large (maybe into the 10's of thousands) numbers of Zope objects? Q2. How much more or less efficient is Zope for storing a piece of data over a traditional relational database ? Q3 (I'm a newbie here) Can a python external method access Zope objects ? Eg if I create a task object from a ZClass can I then do things with it from a python script? Q4. I think I remember seeing a post about the Zope database being a single large file posing problems with the Linux filesystem.. or was that the windows filesystem.. if so then that could limit Zope's potential in a commercial production enviroment, surely ?? If this is true what have people done to try and get around this, ie archiving objects (however that could occur) etc.. ? As Chris P. mentioned in a previous post, we do have a FT technical writer on staff. The key word here is _a_ :^) Zope is a fairly large subject. Much of the recent improvement in docs is due to Pam's efforts, but there is a limit to what any one person can accomplish. Please understand that this is _not_ an excuse - it is something that we understand painfully well, which is why Pam, Amos and Rob have been putting so much work lately into a documentation strategy that will allow us to coordinate and make the most of both internal resources and the efforts of the Zope community. The new docs process will allow motivated Zopistas to take ownership of various doc efforts and work hand-in-glove with the DC effort with a minimum of pain and overhead. Believe me, we are _not_ turning a deaf ear toward the community's documentation concerns - we have probably just not been vocal enough about what we are doing about it. The DC docs tiger team here has just about finished a strategy which will allow us to partition the docs in way that not only allows us to better keep up with docs internally but also lets the community take the lead on areas of concern to them without us holding them up. Setting permissions on File-Objects

Hello. I am currently using Zope with the following configuration: Zope Version 2.1.0 (latest www.zope.org tarball) Linux 2.1.10 ZServer I have created some folders and uploaded some files to this one. After that I clicked on the file icon and after that I tried to change security parameters for that file. After submitting ANY change I get the following: Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Personal Folder

Hello! I have seen that it is possible to install some kind of "personal home" folder for Members of a site. My questions are: a) where can I get some information on how these are established (including login) b) is it possible to create "private pages" depending on the authorization of a user (and how is this done?) I want to create something like a forum where different users can share documents via up- and downloading, but these pages should not be accessible by anonymous users.
