problems upgrading zope

hi everyone! i attempted to convert a Data.bbb (Zope-1.10.3, ZODB2) database file to a Data.fs (Zope-2.1.1, ZODB3 ?) file using the following syntax: python utilities/bbb.py -x -f Data.fs Data.bbb which returned "corrupt database" error messages. this happened on three different occassions and at very early positions of the database file, i.e. 0 or 9. reversing the reading from back to front using the -e option did not help either. the original database files seem to be fine. at least the 1.10.3 servers are up and running without any problem. the server is an intel box, running suse linux 6.2. we are running python 1.5.2. is this a known problem and does anyone have a workaround. please excuse if this issue was raised here earlier. it seems that i am not receiving all postings from the mailing lists :( please also 'cc' your replies to my e-mail address (basti(a)beehive.de) for the same reason. ciao, basti -------------------------------------------------------------------------- sebastian f. luehnsdorf beehive elektronische medien gmbh -------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://basti.beehive.de http://www.beehive.de mailto:basti@beehive.de mailto:service@beehive.de http://www.zope.de fon: (+49 30) 84 78 20 http://www.i-surf.de fax: (+49 30) 84 78 22 99

There are several io streams used by programs: stdin: keyboard input (redirected by < ) stdout: console output (redirected by > ) stderr: error messages (redirected by 2> ) That way you can redirect all output of a command to a file, but still see error messages. python z2.py 2> zope-err.log & or something similar will redirect all stderr output to zope.log. python z2.py &> zope-err.log & will redirect both stdout and stderr to zope-err.log. For more information on this, check out the bash man page and search for REDIRECTION. You'll find out more than you ever wanted to know :-). "import" within external method file doesn't work

Hello all, I've tried to write a simple external method as described a thousand times in the excellent documentation. Within the file "A", I'd like to import another file "B" within the same directory. But when I try to add a function from "A" as an external method somewhere in the tree and try to view the DTML document from which the method is called, Zope tells me that it can't find the module I tried to import in "A". Is this a bug or I'm too much newbie? Any help appreciated alot Christian

Hi, I'm getting to the end of my rope trying to get Zope 2.1 (latest version) installed and running on a RedHat installation. Here are the steps and error messages. Configuration: Linux RedHat 6.1; Python1.5.2-7, Zope2.1.1, Pentium PC Setup: I setup Redhat 6.1 with a Basic installation skipping Apache Web Server. I installed 3 python packages, Base, tools, and Development. Unzip Files: I unzipped the source file in the /var directory using gunzip and tar thusly gunzip /var/Zope-2.1-src.tgz; tar -xvf /var/Zope-2.1-src.tar Change to the Zope directory cd /var/Zope-2.1.1-src Create Zope: I run as root # python wo_pcgi.py everyting seem to compile ok, except a small warning. Multiple Zope servers?

Hi Zope Fans, Here are pointers to some Zope Documentation explaining several ways to improve Zope performance by pushing content out to static storage (file system) where it can be served by a "dumb" (fast!) http server. Dynamic Zope is wonderful, marvelous, but like many things perhaps it should be saved for those tasks where less sophisticated means are clearly inadequate. In other words, use the specialist when you need to, leave the rest to generics. http://www.zope.org/Members/rossl/ZMirror *requires license for comercial use* http://www.zope.org/Members/kslee/pseudo_image http://www.zope.org/Members/LiDongfeng/external_image Another item still eludes me, for I dimly recall a Tip or How-TO about redirecting a "file not found" error to Zope for dynamic generation of a page. On success, the new page can then be added to the file system, so next time the file will be served conventionally. My apologies to those who sincerely believe that Zope can be all things to all Web Surfers. <dtml-with> works from one directory but not another depending upon the directory name

I have a case where including a file works based on the name of the folder. My directory looks like this: / /html/ /News/ When I do <dtml-with html> <dtml-var news_html> </dtml-with> I get output as I would expect. how to get the value of image properties?

I think I saw an example of this at the zope site, but couldn't find it anymore.. The problem: I need the "width" and "height" -values of images as dtml-strings, but how is it done? an example: <TD WIDTH="[the width of image1]"><dtml-var image1></TD> ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ How do I get this? (for example, it could be something like "100")

I can't find a single example how to use the dcoracle package and can't figure it out. The documentation says: Connect(connection_string) Constructor for creating a connection to the database. Returns a Connection Object. This looks fine and returns a connection object with dbc = oci_.Connect('scott/tiger@thunder') The docs describing connection object includes: cursor() Return a new Cursor Object. An exception may be thrown if the database does not support a cursor concept. I can't get this to work and don't know why. Code looks like: #!/usr/bin/python import sys sys.path.append('/usr/local/zope/Zope-2.0.1-linux2-x86/lib/python/Products/Z OracleDA/DCOracle') import Buffer, oci_ dbc = oci_.Connect('scott/tiger@thunder') cursor = dbc.cursor() error returned is: AttributeError: 'Connection' object has no attribute 'cursor' Can anyone post a simple example of how to connect and return a recordset?
