Annoying "This is not a Query" message

Hi all, I thought that I had seen this mentioned before, but I can't find it in the archives, so I will ask again: Is there something that can be done to get rid of the really annoying and misleading "This is not a Query" message that comes up when you test a SQLMethod that does not return any rows (e.g., UPDATE or DEL queries) I spent a bunch of time chasing this error before I finally realized that my Queries were executing, I was just being given a spurious error. -- Stand Fast, tjg. Tree tag to show only objects that evaluate from a expression

Zopists, I am studying the documentation on the tre tag and looking at the source, and I'm not sure how to get this to work. I am using <dtml-tree expr="PARENTS[1]"> to get the tree tag of a folder above the current folder. I would like to only display the tree of objects in that folder that met a certain criteria. I have tried branches_expr=objectValues(etc...), but I need it to display only the tree of a few of that particular meta_type if they qualify, not all of them. Any ideas? MySQL?

More tutes please! Hello, I just started dealing with Zope, so You'll be seeing a lot of me here. I've been building a site with php and Mysql, and am now thinking of moving it over to Zope. I have some questions about setting this up. I've got the MySQL server running on another machine that I administer. I'd like to just install the MySQL client on the Zope machine, ans leave the database where it is. Php was nice, because it had MySQL support built in. Now I have to install some modules (or are they called products? I'm having trouble with the semantics) to get Zope to talk to MySQL, right? I've seen a couple different modules that say "MySQL (or mySQL)," and I don't know what modules I need, or how they have to be set up to talk to a MySQL server on another machine. Are there folks out there writing tutorials for just this sort of thing? It seems like the sort of thing that Zope is made for (big site mangaement with databases, all opensource code) If I could see some examples, it would help me along nicely towards groking this whole thing. Do these questions mean I'm not ready for Zope yet? BTW- I kinda like my php pages, is there a way to integarate them with the Zope system? That would be killer. Tree tag of a specific object

Zopsters, I'd like to get the tree of a specific object. The ids of the objects are stored in a tokens property. <dtml-in tokens> <dtml-tree expr="_.getitem(_['sequence-item'])" branches_expr="objectValues(['DTML Method', 'DTML Document', 'Folder'])"> <a href="<dtml-var tree-item-url>" target="_parent"> <img src="<dtml-var icon>" border="0"><font size="-1"> <dtml-var title_or_id>></font></a> </dtml-tree> </dtml-in> If fails because it cannot get past the '_' in the expr portion of the tree tag. How to search for empty properties in ZCatalog - nifty solution

The following python method returns a list of all the empty properties in the ZClass it's a method of. Add it as a KeywordIndex to your ZCatalog, and you can search for empty properties easily. Filling in forms and searching for data

Hi all, Just wondering about a couple of issues. I have a form that contains a bunch of blanks. If I fill in that form and click "Add" the entry is added to my PostgreSQL database. If I have existing data in the form and click "Update" the record in my DB is updated. I'm trying to come up with a good Search mechanism. So far this is what I have: If I fill out part of the form and click "Search", I get a list of all matching records returned to me in a nice table. the first column of the table has a radio button and there is an "I Choose You..." button at the bottom of the list. I would like to take the record that the user indicated through use of the radio button and place it back in my Original form. I have come up with two possibilities for this and was wondering which might be the better choice. Possibility 1: I can build a series of lists for each column returned by the query, pass that list back to the originating form, index that list based on the value of the index of my radio button and fill in the blanks. (It actually works quite well) Possibility 2: I can pass back the radio button index to my form, and re-run the SQLQuery then select the appropriate row based on the index in fill in the blanks (I haven't tried this yet) For some reason I like the first better than the second, though something tells me I am needlessly sucking RAM to build a bunch of lists for which I only need one item. It seems that going back to disk for the second query is equally bad. Does anyone have a better suggestion? -- Stand Fast, tjg. PCGI vs FastCGI under Apache?

Fundamentally, my question is "should I try PCGI or FastCGI?", but first, some background. I'm planning on running Zope under Apache. While the site root will map to Zope, there are legacy applications I want to be able to run, thus the Apache. To avoid possible firewall hastles, I essentially want Zope and Apache operations taking place on the same port (80). For an authentication mechanism, I want to use LDAP. So I'm thinking that I'll be having Apache do the LDAP authentication, and add the RewriteRule to pass authentication info to Zope. But how should I run Zope? I'm not really clear on what works/is stable. It sounds like mod_pcgi2 is revision 0.1.0, so I'm nervous about going with that. And it sounds like the fastcgi support is relatively new to Zope, and requires that I fetch a development snapshot for fastcgi. Are there other options I haven't figured out yet? For those of you who have done this, what works for you? Thanks in advance for any advice.
