Variable setting in 'if' for use outside of 'if'

Is there any means of setting variables other than 'with'? As best I can determine, the mechanism for setting variable using 'with' provides those values only within the 'with' block. I would like to preface my html with an if-elif-elif-else block, using it to set a variable so that a simple if-else test can be used later on. I would prefer not to have to replicate the full document within each portion of the if-elif-elif-else block, but I can't find a way to set a variable in the if-elif-elif-else block that can carry over to the rest of the document, since Zope considers it an error for a tag to be only partially contained within a larger block. Please help.

Problems with File upload and Zope-1.10.0pr1

Hello Zopistas Part 1 Trying to upload a plain text file, name Test into Zope (as an object File), (both Zope-1.9.0 and Zope-1.10.0) results in the following error: Sorry, an error occurred. I cannot see how the PUT function of Image.py (Zope-1.10.0p) can fail to set the content-type. Part 2. I have installed Zope 1.10.0 and transfered the old Data.bbb files in the var directory. Everything seems to work ok and the old Document objects have been succesfully changed to DTML method objects. Nevertheless a dtml like:  captures only the old Documents and not the new DTML methods or DTML Documents that I have added. Curiously copies of the old Document methods are also not shown. Newbie question (Adding objects)

I got Zope up and running with Netscape 3.5.1 on a Sun Solaris 2.6 box. When I run it (via the web interface) and try to add something, be it a document, a folder, etc., (using the pulldown and "Add" button) I get the same message: Not Found The requested object does not exist on this server. The link you followed is either outdated, inaccurate, or the server has been instructed not to let you have it. Please inform the site administrator of the referring page. The link is along the lines of: http://my.server.com/cgi-bin/zope/Zope.cgi/.?%3Amethod=manage_addDocumentFor m I don't get any error in my error log, I have debug=1, and I don't get any errors in the Zope log file. What happens to acquisition when creating new permissions?

Hi All, I'm in the middle of changing the security handling on the Guestbook product I submitted to the site not too long ago. I now have a situation where I have a product (Guestbook), which adds and manages sub-objects (GuestBookEntry). The permission 'Add Entry', instead of being a permission of the enclosing folder, is now a permission associated with the Guestbook. In the manage screen, a newly-created product instance has the 'Acquire' box set, but doesn't have the 'Add Entry' permission granted to any roles ('Anonymous' or 'Manager'). When the acquire box is ticked, I can add entries in a fresh browser without having to enter any authentication info, even with no roles granted the appropriate permission, so it seems as if the 'Add Entry' permission is being acquired from somewhere, even tho no-one further up the chain has this permission to acquire. If I deselect the 'Acquire' box, I'm now get the authentication dialogue when I try to add entries, and I have to grant the 'add entry' permission to diferent roles if I want them to add entries. (i.e. this is the behaviour I was kind of expecting when the acquire box was checked!). Cheers, Andy.

I'm talking to the other users out there who've been playing with this as well, and have more python/Zope experience than I do. In particular, I like the ability to validate against my db. It is a module which creates a publishable object. It was never meant to be used with the Zope management framework. External methods don't in general lend themselves to plugging publishable objects into the Zope hierarchy. To find out more read the External Method documentation: http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Reference/ExternalMethods You have a couple options. If you want to plug the ad generator into the Zope object hierarchy, proceed along the lines of the 'PlayHouse' example in the External Method documentation. If you just want to publish the ad generator, use ZopeHTTPServer like so: ZopeHTTPServer ads.py Which will publish the ads.py module with ZPublisher. Good luck. -Amos

Path-info

Hi all This is probably a Newbi question, so bare with me. In Zope PATH_INFO, BASEn or URLn all return a string consisting of hostname and folder ID's. Is there a way to create a similar string consisting of the folder Title's ?. I don't have access to the Python libs, so I have to do it in DTML. Hope somebody has an answer to this.
