More Newbie DTML questions

Hi all! I'm having a ball playing with this stuff, but I'm still having trouble understanding some of the finer points of DTML. First, to test the existence of an object I have found I can do this:  <p>Do some stuff</p>  However, if I want to test the existence of two objects, I can do none of the following:    So, other than nesting, is there a way to test the existence of two objects at one time? Second, I am working on a page that actually has two forms. the page itself is the target of the ACTION attribute. The first form displays by default, when the "continue" button is pressed, the second form is displayed. then a Calculate button is provided that refreshes the second form with some calculated data. However, on pressing the Calculate button it appears that I lose the value of the first ACTION variable, and the second form doesn't re-display. Here is the sequence of events Form One Displays Press Continue Form One Displays Form Two Displays Press Calculate Form One Displays The above is incorrect I want that last section to read: Form One Displays Form Two Displays with updated data Here is the code (highly edited for space): <FORM ACTION="index_html" METHOD="POST"> <p>Display Form One</p> <input type="submit" name="Continue" value="Continue" align="CENTER"> </FORM>  <FORM ACTION="index_html" METHOD="POST"> <p>Display Form Two</p> <input type="submit" name="Calculate" value="Calculate" align="CENTER"> </FORM>  It appears that Continue is getting reset to no value, but why? - Authentication - users don't work at all!

Hey Zopers - (ehw, that doesn't sound good - what should the collective noun for "those who hack Zope" be?) Anyway - I've just installed 1.9.0 on my Linux box, pawed through some of the docs and examples and am very impressed! We're just in the beginning phases of coding up a Cold Fusion based web/database app, and I'm hoping to do some parallel development under Zope, then cut over to that when everyone sees how much cooler^W more maintainable the Zope version is. My problem right now - I can't get anyone except the "Superuser" and the anonymous role to authenticate! Just like Phil Harris's problem with IIS, but I'm using the ZopeHTTPServer directly (I figured that would be the least hassle) What I've done: Connect as the superuser Go to the management screen Open the User Folder object Add users with 'Manager' role (check that password many many times) Shut down browser/restart (aside: anyone know how to get Netscape to forget it's authentication info without shutting down?) A couple of technical Zope questions

Hello Zopenians .. Zopists .. Zopers..? I've got some questions regarding Zope's guts: - How do I access the Object root in Zope's database. Is "import Main; root = Main.bobo_application" ok? - Parent objects are accessed via aq_parent? What is the ObjectManager.parentObject method for? - Can an object be held by two different Folders simulanously (set via _setObject)? Will basic object support work with this? Cut, Copy, Paste? - What is the best way to store additional persistent data (not to be accessed via web). A second PickleDictionary would be surely a way, are additional root keys in Bobobase ok? - Where do I place general functionality that is executed on each Zope startup ? - How does the "manage_" prefix magic work exactly? - Can I suppress the automagical appending of the help tabs in the management interface? Phew, that's all for now :-) BTW: I just had a quick look at "A Technical Intrduction to Object Publishing with Zope" to see if there were any additions since the "ATItOPw Bobo" version of the document. Unfortunately I have to say that the whole thing became a little bit fuzzier WRT terminology due to the replacement of "Bobo" with "Zope" - now often "Zope" is mentioned where "the Zope Publisher" would be more appropriate. BTW2: A quick hack adding sys.path.insert(4, '<My Python Path>') sys.path.insert(5, '<My Python Path>/PythonWin') sys.path.insert(6, '<My Python Path>/win32') sys.path.insert(7, '<My Python Path>/win32com') sys.path.insert(8, '<My Python Path>/win32dbg') sys.path.insert(9, '<My Python Path>/win32/lib') to serve.py lets me use the win32dbg package on Windows inside Zope via import win32dbg; win32dbg.set_trace() Unfortunately the introspection into the Extension Classes with the object browser is very limited. Zope on LinuxPPC

Hello, I am about to install LinuxPPC on my Mac at home. Has anyone here ported or compiled Zope for LinuxPPC? There is also a discussion on the LinuxPPC mailing list about reorganizing the LinuxPPC.org website to allow for greater community involvement and to be a portal for LinuxPPC users. LinuxPPC.org and LinuxPPC.com are the primary distributors of Linux for the PowerPC platform. They start with RedHat source for the basis of their distribution. Any pointers appreciated. null attribute not working with MySQL

I have the following tag:  According to what I have read this should put nothing in if the value retrieved from MySQL is null. Well, it's putting the string "None" in, so I have a table full of Nones! MySQL returns NULL for null values, so Zope is understanding that and returning the Python value of None. Right? Can anybody tell me what is wrong? I am just learning Zope with no knowlege of Python or OOP, so you may have to be very clear in your suggestions (in other words - don't worry about offending me by talking down to me!). I have been using MySQL from Perl for a while, though. Hmm. I'd certainly prefer it to stack deeper than to arbitrarily break threads. It kinds looks like they break when a message lacks a "references:" header, but not always. (Another thing i'd like is for the message dates to be include in the indexes, *at least* in the sort-by-date index. But i know i won't have time to add this for a while...) Ken
