Zope startup problems

Hi, after a great experience with the Zope Linux/x86 binaries, I am now trying to get a source installation running for the first time, but seem to have overlooked something. This is on a Cobalt RaQ. This is a MIPS processor with Linux 2.0.34. Basically a RedHat box. I built Python 1.5.1 and Zope-1.10.2-src with no problems. I'm using Apache. When I go to this URL: http://zope.swcp.com/Zope/ I see Zope.cgi process, then I see in my browser after about 15 sec: ! Temporarily Unavailable The resource you requested is temporarily unavailable - please try again later. (102) failure during connect  In /usr/share/zope/var, I have only Data.bbb Data.bbb.in (pcgi.* seem to be missing?) Also, I do not see suspicious entries in apache's access and error logs. Below is the relevant section in my Apache config. But the rewrite rule seems to be working since the Zope.cgi process is getting started. Would really appreciate any suggestions. installation issues?

Help! ok, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong -- but I can't figure out what it is. strange behavior - apache+Zope [Q]

Hi! I have just installed Zope 1.10.2 on my SparcStation10 Solaris 2.5.1 ... It installed perfect (no errors). I am using Apache 1.3.3 (compiled on my machine) ... Python 1.5.1 ... well, I think that are all the env vars in relation with Zope ... Ah! gcc 2.8.1 I added the corresponding corrections to the httpd.conf and access.conf of my Apache. I can access the http://my.site.com/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi/ without trouble... I get asked for a user and password but anyway I can access this area. But when I try to access the manage section I get always access denyed, I have the same username in my access and my ru_user file (from apache's htaccess) ... I changed the permissions on the ./var/ ... checked the Zope.cgi ... I have added the following lines to my Apache conf files: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} ^(.*) RewriteRule ^/Zope.cgi/(.*) /usr/local/apache/share/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi/$1 [e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION:%1,t=application/x-httpd-cgi,l] (the last is one line :-) What I am doing wrong? I am right now going to make absolutely sure no such horrific occurrence occurs in my own Zope installation. You done a great service in warning the Zope community about this malicious trojan. I had inadvertently caused the very thing Michel warned me about in his email, but your unfortunate predicament sounds like something that I should be even more careful about avoiding. Thanks, (and grins), Chris Larson PS For anyone out there who has witnessed my travails with my ISP, NFS, etc, once I got var/ up an running under /tmp and set up a shell script to periodically backup and refresh the /tmp/var directory, and lamentably noticed the changes in User.py, everything is comin' up roses! I am now Zopin' away. And on the off chance noone has caught on to this little tidbit, Zope _rocks_!

Anything like a for loop in DTML?

I've used this as my default in the past to get to zope but will now use zope.org This does point out and reinforce Michel Pelletier's point about the usefulness of tracert.
