New version of mod_pcgi

I've finally gotten around to fixing the most serious outstanding problems with mod_pcgi; it is now actually usable. PATH_INFO is now set correctly, so Zope creates URL references that are reasonable, and the Authorization HTTP header is passed along so that you can actually log in. In my limited testing, everything I tried in Zope seemed to work fine using mod_pcgi. In short, you could actually start using it for real now. The code is in the usual place, ftp://starship.python.net/pub/crew/amk/new/ Please download it and try it out; I'm going to work on some Web pages and documentation for it. -- A.M. DTML batch processing variables

Hi, I tried the example from the DTML userguide with my query and get wrong values for: next-sequence-size and previous-sequence-size, here is my dtml-example:        <a href="qs="> (vorherige  Adressen )</a>    E-Mail.DE hat insgesamt  Adresse n gefunden.  <H4>.   </H4> , ;   Tel:  Fax:   <a HREF="mailto:"></a> geschäftlich   <a HREF="mailto:"></a> privat         <a href="qs="> (die nächsten  Adressen )</a>   Es wurden leider keine Einträge gefunden  When for example 111 records are found: next-sequence-size is alway "1", and previous-sequence-size is "-90","-70","-50","-30","-10" everything else works as described. CVS checkout errors?

List traffic is slow, so I thought I'd do my part in boosting the activity :-) Using CVS 1.9 I get lots of "internal errors" from CVS when checking out Zope. As far as I can determine, though, files are checked out completely. The error is: cvs checkout: internal error: repository string too short. I hear rumours that error code 139 indicates memory corruption. I just installed Zope 2.0.0a3 (no CVS patches) on a Slackware Linux 2.2 (libc6, Python 1.5.2) box. ZClasses 'problemette'

Hi all, I'm trundling through Amos' new tutorial on ZClasses and I've found something a little weird. I'm trying to change the properties on an existing CDClass Instance called mycd. I'm using a DTML Method (tried it with a DTML Document too with the same results) and the entire contents of it is:    It's in the same folder as mycd as well. Trouble is when I 'view' this document, it sets the title property of the *folder* to 'A slight case of overbombing'. I've checked this out by making a new property of the enclosing folder called 'description' and the same thing happens. NewsGroups vs mailing list vs ?

Hi, It's quiet on the list these days. Before the storm of Zope 2? Ok, a while ago, we had a discussion about a newsgroup or mailing list. Then I proposed to use something similar like www.experts-exchange.com . I'm wondering what other people think about. I think it's a good clear way of managing things. If you look at E-E, you know what I mean We could create such thing ourselfs, but not using the points-system etc. What do you think? Next, I'm wondering if creative Python Experts are working on some tools which might see the daylight soon... Is it possible to let us know about these tools? Tom.

DateTime problem

Hi all, I've fixed this problem as per last week and posted a patch on the Collector. Furthermore the above just won't work on 1.11.0pr1 -- which I'm not complaining about, waiting to upgrade to Zope 2.0. _However_, I would like to reiterate that I don't think it's the document's responsibility to send a correct LM header. Zope (or ZServer) should return an 304 error if the browser requests a document that has not been modified. This scheme isn't compatible at all with what you guys are suggesting. Why? When, in the future, we'll have good HTTP/1.1 support in Zope/ZServer, the browser passes an If-Modified-Since header, Zope will compare the date/time to the internal modification stamp on the object. If the document is old, Zope will return an 304 (Not Modified) response. In other words, the document will never be rendered and the code to call RESPONSE.setHeader() will never be executed. What's weird about IE 5.0, by the way, is that it uses Last-Modified to determine whether its cached copy is more recent than the one returned by the server, even though the server returns the whole document anyway instead of a 304 (which, btw, is what Zope does), which, when you think about it, is a little strange but sort of efficient, since the browser can just ignore the data and subsitute its own cached data, even if the document returned by the server is technically different/newer.
