Martijn, Remember that DTML Documents behave a little differently than DTML Methods, External Methods and other "method"-like objects. The "self" in your "getPropertyIds" external method is going to be the _folder_, not the DTML Document. In a DTML Document, the implicit "self" namespace is the DTMLDocument itself, but this does extend to any method-like objects called from the DTML Document - they will continue to act as methods of their containers (and _not_ like methods of the DTML Document). One thing you could do to accomplish what you are trying to do is to extend your getPropertyIds() method to accept an argument: def getPropertyIds(self, obj): return obj.propertyIds()  Hope this helps! I had to copy the /content-directory of the python, which came with Zope in the python directory of my debian-linux installation. (Python 1.5.1) Then the compilation worked.(make -f Makefile.pre.in boot ) But now I have a problem with the make command: gcc -fpic -g -O2 -I/usr/include/python1.5 -I/usr/include/python1.5 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DADABASSQLAPI -I/usr/local/stow/adabas/incl -c ./sql.c ./sql.c:44: Python.h: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden make: *** [sql.o] Error 1 Sorry it is my first step with python ... hi has someone a written a module or a wizard to create a login-site with user-authenticate with a db (where the users and passwords are). i tried the userDB-Folder, but it is only a broken product. (i canŽt compile the crypt-module successfull...) and.... ...my python knowleges a very bad at the moment :-(

It is possible to run Zope without PCGI (e.g. internal network, a.k.a. buzzword: 'intranet'). It is also possible to use PCGI without Zope. The pcgitest example is provided to test and demonstrate a free-standing PCGI application. I'm looking to convert my perl based web store ( which uses flat ascii files ) to Zope, and am looking for pointers on how to do this. The perl application uses dynamically generated HTML, and a sessionid variable which identifies the customer, and this is passed from page to page. The shopping basket is saved with the sessionid as a text file between pages. I've got to the point on how to access sql tables using Zope, but am wondering how to do the sessionid bit. I don't think I need to do authentication at this stage. Is there a working webstore type product around? ( I did download the emarket product, but when I tried to add an item to the basket, it then displayed the dtml to my browser! Date Problem of ODBC DA

Hi, I access the data in Oracle 7.3(AIX server) through ODBC DA on NT platform. Things work well unitl the table has column with DATE type. When my SQL method is "select start_date from project_table", and test it in Zope 1.10.2, I get only "Sorry, an error occurred.". Is it a problem of Zope or ODBC DA? How to fix it? T. C. Huang

Running ZopeHTTPServer and PCGI together = a bad thing?

Hi, I'm running a ZopeServer on port 9673 of a machine and have set up a virtual host using the Apache redirect rules to start up the PCGI process when someone enters the site via the virtual host route. My problem is that the information shown to the user is *different*, depending on what route they choose. If I look at the database information for the PCGI Zope I get Database Size :: 11.3M Database Location :: /home/nnle/zope/Zope-1.10.2-solaris-2.5.1-sparc/var/Data.bbb You are running Zope version: Zope 1.10.2 (binary release, python 1.5.1, solaris-2.5.1-sparc), on Python 1.5.1 (#1, Feb 16 1999, 18:37:21) [GCC 2.7.2] on sunos5. Zope has been running (with a process ID of 24082) for 19 days 15 hours 49 min16 sec. (on this server I can only 'undo' two or three transactions) The same data for the port :9673 Zope is Database Size :: 11.3M Database Location :: /home/nnle/zope/Zope-1.10.2-solaris-2.5.1-sparc/var/Data.bbb You are running Zope version: Zope 1.10.2 (binary release, python 1.5.1, solaris-2.5.1-sparc), on Python 1.5.1 (#1, Feb 16 1999, 18:37:21) [GCC 2.7.2] on sunos5. Zope has been running (with a process ID of 3895) for 22 days 43 min 40 sec. (on this server I can 'undo' literally hundreds of transactions). In addition, the Zope server is much faster than the PCGI. I have been working on the 9673 server for a long time, and usually start up the PCGI to demo the site without using port numbers. Eventually however, I must get rid of port numbers and (presumably) use the PCGI method. I'm really concerned that there is the discrepancy in the server and would like to get it sorted out.
