too many Zope logos

I have noticed a second Zope logo appearing in some places (notably the Portal Toolkit Demo, but now also the www.mgmt-inc.com homepage, for instance). Since it is our common goal to evangelize the Zope platform, I believe it is a bad idea to have two Zope logos floating around the net, as this dilutes the branding effort. I think everybody should refrain from creating alternative Zope logos. On the contrary, we should establish guidelines for using the oficial logos, and post "oficial renderings" on the Zope.org site. In sum, we should all choose one logo and stick with it. By the way, in my opinion the Zope logo as displayed at the zope.org homepage is EXCELENT: it is beautiful, simple and can be recognized very quickly. One cannot ask for more. Detecting empty SQL call

Hi all, Can anyone tell me how to detect if the call to a mySQL database returns an empty recordset as my code causes an error if the SQL returns an empty recordset. This is what i am currently using:        i have tried various  statement, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Any advice? 2.0.0a3 gets confused about what folder I'm in

I configured Zope 2.0.0a3 a bit unusually, and now it gets confused about what folder I'm in. The root of my web site TECHNOCRAT.NET is _not_ Zope's root folder, but is instead a _sub-folder_ of Zope's root folder. Note how the Apache configuration below maps "/" to "Zope.cgi/TECHNOCRAT.NET". # Zope configuration maps / to CGI Zope.cgi/TECHNOCRAT.NET/ RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} ^(.*) RewriteRule ^/(.*) /usr/lib/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi/TECHNOCRAT.NET/$1 [last,e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION:%1,t=application/x-httpd-cgi,l] When I go to http://technocrat.net/manage, the management screen claims I'm in the folder /TECHNOCRAT.NET/TECHNOCRAT.NET/TECHNOCRAT.NET . By clicking on the middle folder in this series, I am transported to /TECHNOCRAT.NET/TECHNOCRAT.NET/TECHNOCRAT.NET/TECHNOCRAT.NET, which has the same contents. I can click again to see 5 iterations of "TECHNOCRAT.NET" in my folder path, and again I'm still in the same folder as before. I haven't tested this thoroughly enough yet to tell if this introduces functional errors, or just the inaccurate management display described above. Thanks Bruce Perens

Nesting method calls

I'm new to the mailing list so I don't know if this is a new topic, but I couldn't get anything useful from the docs/faqs on the topic. In "authors" I'm trying to do this:    In "authors_body" I try to do this:      "sixfield_page" and "sixfield_textblock" uses the data from heading and body to construct HTML pages. get_all_authors is an SQL query. Pam, This is welcome news! Let me give you some feedback from the perspective of a Zope newbie. When I first learned about Zope I was quite excited about it, but when I started to delve into it a little further I was somewhat discouraged. Everything is in such flux, and it's hard to know what's current and what's obsolete. I asked a question or two about examples in documents on the web site and was told that they were obsolete but if I look at line such-and-such in the source code... My situation is probably like a lot of people's in that I'd like to get a handle on what Zope is and how to use it, but I don't have a mandate from my company to spend time on it. I'm basically trying to evaluate it in my spare time, and if it's as cool as it sounds then I will try to get my company interested. What I don't have is time to read all the source code and monitor what's being checked in and out. Like a lot of people who will be interested in Zope, I am new to Python as well. I'd be a lot more inclined to plow through source code, though, if I had a short doc that told me where to start and what the pieces are and how they fit together. So a couple of things that would be invaluable for someone like me: a) A big-picture roadmap, something to orient the newcomer. b) A substantive real-life example. Examples are always the best way to learn how to use new software tools. You folks are using Zope in the real world. Is there an example application that you can publish (i.e., source code)? Preferably this would be an example showing Zope's use to access databases on the back-end and handling e-commerce (credit card transactions, shopping carts, etc.). It sounds like you have a better mousetrap. Show me how to use it and I'll beat a path to your door. Thanks for your time. URGENT: Serving a File object from an external method.

I want to have a url that returns a binary object that is dynamically generated. I have created an external method with something like the following: from OFS.Image import File f = File('ASGL', 'ASGL', res, content_type='application/octet-stream') return f If I do a print f.content_type I get 'application/octet-stream'. If I do the following (doCommand is the external method): f = urllib.urlopen("http://here.com:9673/doCommand") print f.info() I get the following: Server: ZopeHTTP/1.16 Python/1.5.1 Date: Thu, 01 Jul 1999 01:19:28 GMT Content-Length: 96 Content-Type: text/plain What am I doing wrong? How do I get an dynamically generated binary file?
