As has been said umpteen times before, the Zope docs are pretty poor right now, but can someone suggest any prewritten code that is not too complicated? I'm starting to go through the Confera and TinyTable packages - can anyone suggest sample code to read through?

Invalid Header error

Hi, I'm just starting to use Zope (also just learned Python) - and I'm having some problems running the "configuration interface" tutorial in the Content manager's guide. When I run the designer I get a 1 line error: "Invalid Header (0): ". What does this mean? How do I get more detailed debugging information? Is there a way to search through the Zope mailing list archives?

Heres the method I use for my sitemap. It puts in the site map only documents, files and images that have a title. Anything else is considered not sitemap material. Ok, I sort of see what your getting at but what if you have content that can't be mapped using a url. Like a tradittional form input that results in a sql database search and a result list. Lets say a bug tracking system. And I want a combined way to search for anything in my web pages or a bug that matches the criteria. I imagine it would be stupid to get the ZCatalog to index the sql database when it is already indexed, so I imagine what I'm after is a way of a) Producing a result set from an sql query that is compatible with the ZCatalog result set. b) Combining two or more result sets in a way that makes sense. ie some way of objective way of scoring results. It would seem to me that a framework for this sort of thing is something lots of people would want. Dylan.

And he asks for "A more well-defined way to construct Perl-based network services. Think Zope for Perl. There is mod_perl, an indispensable tool, but nothing which is the kind of framework that Zope provides for Python. " IMHO, this is a little misguided. Why would someone want Zope for perl? why not just use Zope with python? :) Kevin

Apache+Zope (the big picture)

Hi everyone, I'm trying to get a handle on using Apache and ZServer together. I've read what seem to be the relevant docs, but I'm still unclear about something. Let's say I have a Web server for a domain. Let's call it www.foo.com. I have a Web site in Zope, but for a number of reasons I need to serve up some non-Zope pages too (from the same www.foo.com) Will setting up ZServer and Apache (with the virtual host and rewrite rules enabled) allow me to have a seamless experience for the person who visits my site. In other words, is it possible for http://www.foo.com/index_html (a Zope-powered page) and http://www.foo.com/example/hello.html (a normal HTML, Apache-served page) to live and play together nicely. Some teachers would probably like to have simple Web pages, and for now I want to make it as easy as possible. Also, some of my sysadmin tools use a Web interface that couldn't be replicated in Zope. I hope that question is clear. Sorry for the confusion, I'm trying to open a cursor on a query say: Open a cursor: select NAME from table Where I can read one name at a time and perform an action on that name. For example: select blah, count(*) as table2Count from table2 where table2.name = NAME group by blah select blah2, count(*) as table3Count from table3 where table3.name = NAME group by blah2 select blah3, count(*) as table4Count from table3 where table3.name = NAME group by blah3 Write a row(NAME, table2count, table3count, table4count) CLOSE THE CURSOR The end result would be something like: NAME Count of Visits Count of Purchases Count of Inquiries Joe 1234 4331 5965 Jane 3766 3534 35 Jeff 3457 6433 3653 Harry 5433 88 2854 Tim 56 2434 9865 . . . The capitalized NAME is equal to the value of the first response from Query1. Let me know if that is still confusing . . . My immediate reaction is to suggest "SELECT count(*) FROM ...", but then I'm not sure what you mean by "places everything in one row". Please elaborate.
