Not only can I not help you, I have a question for you. 1) Did you ever find an answer? If so, may I have it? 2) If not, you mention how you currently are able to access a query and then scan the list. How do you do this? More XML Doc questions (and ZCatalog)

Is it possible to catalog individual XMLDocument elements with ZCatalog? For instance, if my XMLDocument has something like "<abstract>some text</abstract>" can I catalog only that individual element, plus any sub-elements (by setting up an "abstract" text index in my ZCatalog)? What I would eventually like to do is build a system for storing scientific papers and I want to use XML as the archive format, but I'd like the ability to run searches over arbitrary sections of the document collection. From the readme file, it seems like XMLDocument would parse the file into a collection of objects that could be cataloged, but in practice it doesn't seem to work this way. I can catalog the entire document or add stuff to a property sheet and catalog that, but I can't catalog pieces of the xml file. Is this possible? The problem here is not one of 'how do i get the id of a method' really, the question should be, '*why* would I *want* to get the id of a method'. if you want your DTML object to be able to see it's own properties, including it's id and title, then use a DTML Document. If you want to get the id or title of a Method, then you might be doing something wrong. Of course, I could be convinced otherwise. How do I create a cursor on a query in Zope

Nested ZClass problem.

Well, I'm having a little simple problem here. (Z2.0b5, RH6.0/intel) I've got a product called FileMinder, which surprise, surprise contains a ZClass FMFolder. This works quite nice, but now I've added a FMFile ZClass in FMFolder. I've added also the helper methods, and ZOPE created FMFile_add, FMFile_addFolder, FMFile_Factory all in the FMFolder ZClass. Why is the id of a *method* called *document_id*??? Because before Zope 1.10, there were no documents, just methods (and they were called documents) and there was a valid need to get the id of the method (document). So we gave methods (documents) the ability to reflect a little information about themselves into themselves. It was a hack. So right now, I would suggest you look at the design of your little app, and make sure that maybe what you really want are documents, and not methods. Any time you want a DTML object to reflect on itself, you're talking about the need for a DTML Document, and not a Method.
