The easiest thing is to just keep the alias in place and 'short-circuit' your Zope rewrite rule with a rule that sends the client to your other content. We do this with mailman: http://www.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope is not served by zope, but rather by Apache, with the following rule. RewriteEngine On RewriteLog logs/rewrite_log RewriteLogLevel 0 RewriteRule ^/mailman - [l] RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} ^(.*) RewriteRule ^/(.*) /usr/local/dc/zope19/zope19.cgi/$1 [e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION: %1,t=application/x-httpd-cgi,l] It would be a good thing if someone write a how-to on this. Some commands will work a bit differently, since DTML within a Document is acting on the Document itself and DTML within the Method acts on the Method's container (ie Folder, etc.) I generally just use Documents in times when I want the Document to have properties of its own. If you end up using Apache, which you might since you want to do virtual hosting, you can continue doing this as you do now and just set up a RewriteRule so that the mail list archive path is served up as standard HTML. If you do really want it in Zope, you could use XML-RPC or ZClient to update things via cron. >What sort of logs does the Zope server produce? Another Question

OK, another newbie question. I have searched through the documentation but can't find any help... I want to have a list of upcoming (or even previous) events. Each item in this list should have a date, a title, a URL for more information, and a description. In the OO form of thinking, there should be an Events object, and if I were in a C or Perl mindset, I would think of an array of Events objects. How can I do this in Zope? I'd like to, for instance, have an Events page that can display details about all the upcoming events. Or, a quick summary to put on a main page that would display only the title and use the URL as a link. I thought about putting a bunch of separate documents in a folder, but -- I can't access that from its siblings. Ie, if I have a folder named ACLUG/Events, I can't access it from ACLUG/Info (apparently?). Also, I'd have to know all the names. And, that still doesn't let me write some quick script to go through there and pick out only upcoming events or some such thing. Is a Gadfly thing useful here? I couldn't find a reference on that either (just a brief tutorial). Hi, I'm just new to Zope, and have some questions both on documentation and on overall architecture. First, despite reading the descriptions in the documentation, I still don't understand the difference between a DTML Method and a DTML Document, save that documents (apparently?) have their own properties (variables?) When should I use one, when should I use the other, etc? Next question. I'm wanting to take a site, say http://www.aclug.org/ that I currently maintain with a set of m4 macros, and put it into Zope. I'd like to do nice dynamic things like, say, have a Quick Links bar that is defined somewhere. This could then be turned on or off by the user (probably by saving a cookie). Installing ZODBC DA 3.01.b

Hi all, I've got problems installing Z ODBC DA 3.01.b. Though the Zodbcda folder shows up correctly in the lib/python/products directory of my (2.0.0) installation, the Z ODBC database connection doesn't appear in the list of the available objects after restarting ZOPE. I've been wondering about our python processes slowly bloating out - we use dc's ZSybaseDA v 1.0.1 which is hidden on the main zope site at http://www.zope.org/Download/ZSybaseDA. Any other ZSybaseDA users out there seeing this ?
