I am in the middle of the Zope Content Managers Guide (page 31). I am creating a sample product as described but with my own fields and values. I need an 'id' field and have tried to include one as shown in the sample but keep getting this error: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Zope supports Python builin functions?

Hi, Does Zope support Python builtin functions outside External Methods? I made a DTML Methode with juste one line: <dtml-var "4==5"> after clicking on the view tab I got: 0 Perfect. Then I change the line to: <dtml-var "type([])==type({})"> Viewing it displays: ************ Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: NameError Error Value: type etc....... ************ I know the test is stupid, i just wanted to know if it was possible to use Python builin function inside a simple DTML Method. I understand it's not. Is it right?

I did something like this with some Python code in a homegrown user authentication class I've been playing around with: # remove view and access permissions from acquired permissions and anonymous role acq_permissions = your_method.permission_settings() new_permissions = [] for d in acq_permissions: if d['name'] != 'View': new_permissions.append(d['name']) your_method.manage_acquiredPermissions(new_permissions) your_method.manage_role(role_to_manage='Anonymous',permissions=new_permissions) Basically, what it is doing is: 1. get the current list of acquired permissions from your dtml_method (<object>.permission_settings()) 2. create a new list of permissions without the View permission (that's the what the loop is doing) -- you could also just create a hardcoded list and not have to loop (then you don't have to do the first step too) 3. set your object's acquired permissions using (<object>.manage_acquiredPermissions(new_permissions) 4. set the anonymous role's permissions to the the new permissions (w/o the View permission) (<object>.manage_role(role_to_manage='Anonymous',permissions=new_permissions)) 5. You also probably need add a step to add view permissions for some role (i.e. Manager) so that they have the view permission to access your method using the manage_role method (<object>.manage_role(role_to_manage='Manager',permissions=['View','View Management',...]) If you are writing your constructor method in DTML, you probably could use the same methods that I used. Error with ZODB: Couldn't unnpickle '\000\000\000\000\000\000\000^'

1999-09-14T21:49:11 ERROR(200) ZODB Couldn't unnpickle '\000\000\000\000\000\000\000^' I get this while trying to save a DTML Method. Very odd things happen afterwards, such as the method rendering itself as text (unparsed) and authorization errors. This is Zope 2.0.0. Regards, -scott

I think Kevin is right, I cleared the cache in IE and the right icons came back. It remains it's an issue if the changes made in your Website are not reflected in the end user brower. The reason I wondered this is because I exported a product from my local machine (which was display the wrong icon) and then imported it on a different server and it then displayed the correct icon. I've noticed that IE seems to cache some things rather "vigorously". We're recruiting for a talented web developer to reorganize our departmental Web sites and manage them as a distributed electronic publishing environment. The Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh has one of the largest Medical Pathology sites, with about 700,000 hits (about 60,000 user sessions) per month. The site includes Internet/intranet information serving 17 hospitals in southwest Pennsylvania, over 200 clinical case studies (with more added regularly) used nationally for educational purposes including Internet-based continuing medical education for physicians, and support for a national conference in Pathology Informatics that includes real-time RealAudio streaming servers. The manual maintenance of this diverse information by a small central core of Web managers has become unwieldy and we recognize the need to decentralize authorship for much of our content. We also recognize the need to move beyond static pages to create Web applications that augment our work in teaching, research and clinical practice. Thus our interest in Zope and Zope developers. Our goal is to make the University of Pittsburgh Pathology site the premier Medical Pathology site in the nation and to create a model for a distributed authorship system that can be applied to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in general. The immediate task for the new developer will be to consolidate management of the servers, unify the information presentation, decentralize content creation, and work with the the site's new Medical Director (me) to create and manage a plan for site development. Salary is in the range of $45 - 55K, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a chance to work with good people on a project that has national attention (at least in the field of Pathology) and also has local impact and meaning.
