Important database corrupted! Please help!

Hi, I've been running an application with Zope 1.10.2 for some months now, collecting important data. It's been stable and terrific. Unfortunately, a disk full error has caused corruption of the Data.bbb file. :-( :-( I need to recover it! The corruption is occuring at 508093 byes, but the full Data.bbb file is actually 16010912 bytes! Truncating the file at 508093 does allow Zope to start up, at least, but almost all of my data is gone. Help! Sorting the OODB

Sorta defeats the purpose but proves the concept and works for debugging purposes. Evan, what are your ideas on a '_' like namespace where you provide some handy dandy modules? Could very much increase the usability of PythonMethods for the short term until you work out importing. -Michel

thread safety

Hi! I never wrote a multi threaded program and I don't know if my ZPublisher module is thread safe. I read http://www.zope.org:18200/Documentation/How-To/ThreadSafety, but this didn't help me much. I found no documentation to the Sync module. I'm not using ZODB or Databases, I'm storing the data in files and for faster access some data in a global dictonary with lists ({'1': {'1.1': ['a', 'b', 'c']}, '2': {'2.1': ...}). Are these operations thread safe or what could I do to make them thread safe? Oliver

Like Brian, I am straying dangerously close to a precipice of ignorance here, but to make Zope capable of true streaming you'ld probably want to implement the Realtime Transport Protocol ( http://www.ietf.org/html.charters/avt-charter.html ). A good overview (with a QuickTime emphasis) can be found at http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/quicktime/qtdevdocs/REF/Streaming.htm Apple's streaming RTP server software is open source (Darwin) and people are porting it to Linux. As Brian suggests, for the moment it's probably best to simply link to the streaming media. Follow-up: Compiling MySQL Python interface

Thanks to those who let me know that the MySQL DA will definitely work with Zope 2.0. It turns out that my problem was caused by missing the one important installation not mentioned explicitly in the directions, the python dev libraries. I'm a Debian user, so I had to go dig that package up separately. Everything compiled fine now, and I'm looking forward to copying my working databases over to my test bed and toying with the interface. -->ben
