WIN32 Z ODBC unpacking Question:

Another Newbie Question: How does one uppack the (ZODBCDA-3.0.3-win32-x86-python-1.5.1.tgz) file in Windows NT Workstation? I usually use a tar command in RedHat Linux? The instructions tell me to "Extract" in a top-level directory. I assumed that refered to dropping the file into c:\program files\Zope\ZODBCDA-3.0.3-win32-x86-python-1.5.1.tgz. I tells me this is a BINARY release (TO ME THIS MEANS AN EXTENSION OF .COM OR EXE? It then tells me to restart Zope. As a service i STOP and then START. What am I missing?

As far as I know you will need to run Zope on a Windows system because ODBC is the only way I know to access an Access database. As far as I know there are no ODBC drivers available on Linux to access Access on Windows. I've been found out :-) Yes, I've thought very hard about how to do this correctly, and it's not "hard", but it is tedious to get right. I spent too long on the wrong end of PKI (i.e. the infrastructure side) and have seen the pains of actually trying to use all this nifty technology. As soon as we have a customer requirement that drives it, we'll venture down there, unfortunately that also requires getting some legal opinions as to whether the piece we're doing is subject to export control. I don't *think* so, but, I'm not a lawyer. In the next few days (this weekend maybe?) I'll try and pretty up my little writings on how PKI and Zope could work together if anyone's interested. I don't know python enough to find out the problem, but I believe it has something to do with some python system functions not working properly or not behaving the same on the Mac as on the PC/UNIX version. It would be great if someone make Zope to work on the Mac. But in the meantime, I will suggest you to run it on LinuxPPC. I believe it would be far easier to get it run under Linux PPC than on the Mac. Kam

FRIENDS OF ZOPE, I am in the process of upgrading software for a weekend install on a RedHat 6.0 Linux intell box. I have 3 questions. 1.) Are there Zope 2.0 RPMS available for RedHat 6.0 ? 2.) Tree + post variables??

Zopees, I have a simple, stupid question. I have a page that has a variable in the URL example "localhost:9673/TreePage?story_id=199093459087" When I open the tree, which is generated with an sql method thru branches_expr, by clicking on the plus sign the story_id variable is not anymore accessible. Because the url of the + sign does not contain the story_id variable. I know, I still use the zope 1.3 but I didn't Have time yet to upgrade.....
