authenticate and Zope 2.2.4

Is it possible that since 2.2.4 the authenticate-method is no longer allowed?? In an 2.2.0-installation a script to authenticate users it's working perfectly and in two other machines(win98 and Linux) with 2.2.4, Zope doesn't want the user(role as manager) to use it(a pop-up-authentication-window appears). trouble: products created inside Zope, updating from 2.1 to 2.2

Hi, there are two types of Zope products: Products created via the Zope Web-Interface and products defined as python classes which are then icluded through a product directory. Unfortunately, the only information I discovered so far deals with these external products. As I understand it, the security model changed from version 2.1 to 2.2. Some HowTos describe the necessary actions to polish up older external products to run them in 2.2 and above. My problem is, that the product we defined via the Web-mechanism inside an older version of zope gets authorization failures. I have absoluteley no idea, where to adjust the security. I tried to create a new product in Zope 2.2.2 and to copy the content from the old to the new one but nothing changed. Being one of the few zope users who wants to use Zope without being a python programmer, I'm a bit lost now. Factoids for supporting zope

I am going through a justification (risks) of the use of Zope for a corporate client. Framing things as an Open Source play relies on the health of its community for its longevity and access to expertise for support. I remember some number tossed out when the Members folder at zope.org went to Btree. What is the current # of Members? Is this an estimate of the Zope community? I think there is probably some dead wood in that # but at least its an estimate. I remember it being over 10K. Our client thought that the recent VC money was about 1/2 what would be needed to make it fly. My argument is that money is leveraged by the active Zope community so a crux in my logic is how strong this community is. Other support? Regards, Albert Boulanger aboulanger(a)vpatch.com

getattr in Python Method problem

In the folder where dosomething_pym (Python Method) is located, is also a string property set called 'en' with the value 'English' The Python Method object is called with no parameters, but is defined with the 'self' parameter inside the Python Method object. In a DTML Method this works fine: <dtml-var "_.getitem('en')"> and returns "English" This is what I try in the Python Method: lang=getattr(self,'en') but this raises an error! Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: validate I have searched the mailing list but in vain. Some people say it should be lang=getattr(self,'en')(self,REQUEST) But that raises the same error. Accessing methods in Python Objects

Hi Zopistas, My first message :-) How can access Python objects' methods from a DTML Method. I get An 'Unauthorized' exception. I would like to do the following: <dtml-let myObj="newObj()"> <dtml-var "myObj.sayHello()"> <dtml-call "myObj.setValue('Bonjour')"> etc... </dtml-let> where 'newObj()' is defined in an Extensions module as: import someObject # a module defining the someObject class def newObj(): return someObject.Object() Actually I must wrap methods in my extension module, not very clean :-/ Is it possible to create roles and permissions in Extensions modules ? Custom tpValues for dtml-tree

I'm trying to write a method that works with dtml-tree. Why GUF or Loginmanager??

Hallo, I'got a fundamental question: Why should you switch from the built-in authentication mechanism to a product like GUF or Login-manager?? Except of the different login interface, I dosn't see any advantage?? Please correct me. Problem: I want to write <or> [the expression OR] in an URL. Example: If you write OR this way : %, I write "http://somedomain.com/index_html?l=bla-bla%blab-blab" Example: If you write OR this way : &, I write "http://somedomain.com/index_html?l=bla-bla&blab-blab" What i know: You can use wildcards [bla*], but CAN YOU USE or...? If so HOW!!! Hope that someone knows the answer to this not-so-newbie-anymore's Q... = ) ( = Stoons = )

Strange changes seen after migrating site from 2.1.6 to 2.2.4

Dear Zopatistas, I'm in the process of migrating a draft site to a production site.. The draft site was running 2.1.6 and the production site is running 2.2.4. I'm noticing some strange things that I can't explain.. Maybe somebody can fill me in on what's going on.. 1.) There are some changes in the way times are being handled, is there any place to read about them in detail? 2.) One form action that points at a DTMLMethod is inexplicably coming up with a "NotFound" error as if the targeted page isn't there. I tried to change the action of the form to point at another DTML Method that only contained the one line <dtml-var REQUEST> in order to debug it. This worked for one try but then going back to the page a minute later, it seems as if the change suddenly vanished..the page had suddenly gone back to pointing to the original page, which was there, but was not being found.. ( I don't think I'm seeing things.. something strange is going on. Is this situation indicative of something I should know about? File system corruption? Wierd mojo? I've never seen anything like it before..) 3.) I am having "Authorization Failed, Retry" errors where my browser won't take the correct password. It just keeps saying I'm entering the wrong one when I know I'm not. This only happens with some documents.
