Newbie: Can Zope do this?

Hi, I need to develop a resource-localization system for an inhouse project. I want to be able to maintain a reference object hierachy of English texts, and a number of "mirror-hierachies", one for each locale, where translations can be entered. Something like: +English Hello world How are you? +German Hello world: Hallo Welt How are you: Wie gehts? +French... +Japanese.... >From what I've read so far, it seems I need to develop one or more Products (one for the English reference-texts, and one for the mirroring?), but I am unsure as to the possibilites of having objects mirror one another automatically. I guess I'll also have to use unicode or something, in order to support Japanese etc. Does Zope support that? Is this possible? How would this best be achieved? Thank you, Jacob

Referencing a method in a folder (Simple question)

How can I reference a method in a deeper folder? I have a HTML-Document in witch I want to include a dtml-method "method" from the folder "down" If I write <dtml-var "down.method"> I get the source in the page not the rendered code. Zope & search engine indexing...

Is there any problem with Zope generated pages being indexed by search engines? I'm assuming that since a bot simply requests an URL (and "normal" URLs are one of Zope's strengths) that the bot will index the full page source assembled from the Zope object pieces by the server (the same source that would normally be rendered by the browser). I was using base64's encoding, but then I was still running into problems. I don't remember the exact situation, but base64 was not good enough. At the end, I had to switch to urllib, by using urllib.quote_plus() and urllib.unquote_plus(). The resulting string was bulkier, I didn't like it too much... but at least it did not fail like base64. Dynamic sorting with dtml-in

Hi Zope-Folks! There is the question: I am displaying dynamic contents of a folder f using: <dtml-in "objectValues('type')"> [render stuff in a table] </dtml-in> So far, so good. I thought it would be nice, that when the user hits the table header of one coloumn of the table, the table gets reordered using <dtml-in "objectValues('type') sort=[new criteria]> So i factored the display method into a dtml-method called "show_table". But I simply can not figure out how to assign the sort attrib to the chosen value... I tried: <a href="show_table?sort=title">Title</a> but that did not work (as I thought) Any Ideas? Or do I have to rewrite the complete show_table to "show_table_sort_title"-stuff and call each seperately? There nust be a more Zopish thing to get that working. In theory you could send the pickle of a Medusa monitor handler that'd open a unsecured monitor server on any given port, and allow the malicious person to access your Zope process _unrestricted_. Just to name an example. Don't trust pickles from the web. Zope & ZPyGreSQLDA

I know this might seem crazy but I don't know what the syntax of the connection string is supposed to be for ZPyGreAQL (I looked all over, read the README, looked newsgroups and mailing lists). Hello all, I was reading through the achives in relation to this issue, and I was wondering if anyone was working on a solution. Our designers use various tools to edit html and these tools will need to be able to publish into a zope version. So for versions to be of use to us, we absolutely need to be able to access a version through some non-web interface (either ftp, webdav or something else). If no one else is or has plans to work on this, we will have to do it (for Zope to be a viable long term solution). I'd like to discuss the possible solutions. I personally think making the version traversable via ftp is the best solution (though webdav might be better, I don't know much about it at this moment). Michel noted that there may be some problems with absolute_url, but I'm not sure I understand the problem for simple file access (put/get) via traversal.
