Hi, I'm writing a product and am starting from 'boring'. Immediately I'm running into namespace problems :-(.... Basically, I modified the boring product only slightly: def __init__(self, id, title='', REQUEST=None): """initialise a new instance of NFG_SiteMap""" self.id = id self.title = title self.REQUEST=REQUEST def namespace(self): return "%s" % (self.REQUEST) That is, I'm trying to test my access to the REQUEST parameters by calling a <dtml-var namespace> in the index_html dtml document. For the rest, the boring product setup is intact, inheritance etc. unchanged. Something very interesting happens: - when I add a new instance to the root folder of my zope installation, this works as intended. Index_html prints out lots of interesting environment. - when I add a new instance to a sub folder: * the management tabs disappear * the REQUEST appears to be 'None' - when I copy the working root folder instance into the subfolder, that copy functions normally with management tabs and REQUEST info. What am I missing here? Why do the class instances behave differently if they're in the same location, but created in different locations? :*CU# -- *** Guido A.J. Install behind iPlanet with SSL

Hi everybody, Zope is great, it is not that usual that one is able to heartily laugh, just by using a tool. It must be the Zen. ;^) I need help. I need to install Zope behind iPlanet (Netscape) Enterprise Server, using SSL and authenticating users by means of RSA Ace Server, smart-cards and everything. >From all I've read (the ZAG, the WEBSERVERS.TXT file, and the list archives) the picture is not completely clear to me. 1) Does installing PCGI within the iPlanet server guarantees a full one-to-one mapping between iPlanet threads and ZServer threads? 2) Will I be using the REMOTE_USER REQUEST variable or the AUTHENTICATED_USER one? 3) I already installed the iPlanet server and Zope on a Sun. How do i go configuring the iPlanet server in order to activate Zope? Please note that I am not allowed to substitute the web server with something else. omission in docs for sending mail attachments

Hello , Look at DTML reference: http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Guides/DTML-HTML/DTML.18.html If you do everything according these docs you'll end up getting emails with attachments named: 1.OCTET-STREAM, 2.OCTET-STREAM... To solve this you should use undocumented "name" option with dtml-boundary tag. For example: <dtml-boundary type=application/octet-stream disposition=attachment encode=base64 name="blah.gif"><dtml-var blah></dtml-mime> Where blah.gif is the name attachment will be called. Object as members

Some times ago, I ask about adding objects as members. However, it got no answer. I went on searching other packages. I found Xen contains similar functions. However, it is distrubted as source. Can someone kindly teach me how to compile the source on my win98. I would like to make it with mingw32. However, the site which is list on the mail archive is gone. Can somebody point me the way? Moreover, in Xen the object is passed to python code with "reference" and is "dereference" there. "reference" and "dereference" is defined in referenceAware. I through this is a useful function for an oodb. Does the current ZODB contain mechanism to do this without help of outside functions? Rgs, Kent Sin

RESPONSE.write

Has anyone managed to get stream-oriented output (RESPONSE.write) working correctly with ZServer? Unless I'm misunterstanding something, the code incomplete. I'll need to fix this in the next few weeks. Is anyone interested in testing some patches? thanks, Toby Dickenson htrd90(a)zepler.org

'Lijst' is a temporary list. The lines from 'inschrijvers' are transfered to the 'deelnemers'. Changes are made permanent by the manage_changeProperties method.

Building tables from a db in dtml...

So, I want to generate a table using DTML and data from a database. I want each row returned from the database to go into it's own html cell, and I want to have say, 4 html columns across the page before starting a new row. So like: <table> <tr> <td> Row 1 from DB </td> <td> row 2 from db </td> <td> row 3 from db </td> <td> row 4 from db </td> </tr> <tr> <td> row 5 from db </td> ... How can I do this? Is there some kind of dtml-if I can wrap around the </tr><tr> to only make it show every 4th row? -- Miksch's Law: If a string has one end, then it has another end.

Platform - I didn't mean OS, I meant a better development platform than Zope. I don't intend to use Win2K for serving Zope except during the learning curve period. I just don't need to wade into Linux 100% at the same time, that can wait. I would check your python installation, and possibly a resintall of w2k, if it is an option. If you didn't compile Zope form the source, try that. Again, if someone wants to steal it, they'll be determined enough to find out how. If your data needs to be this secure, don't use computers, go the old-fashioned paper way. As soon as you go the intranet way, your data is available to the user. Even custom clients cannot block screengrabbing.
